Show us ya Mutt.
Just a bit of fun an off topic fellas, It is said one in three house holds now owns a dog. After all they are Mans & womens best friend.
So would like a picture of ya mutt and there name and what they do at your house.
They say you can tell a lot about a mans personality by the dog he owns.
Dog - Australian Kelpie
Name - Tap Tap ( no its not a typo)
Occupation - Trying to out smart his boss.
Every now and then he gets the urge to chase a cow, bull, chook, duck, pig, motor bike, any thing that moves really.
Cheers Wayno

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
Alright I'm game.
This is not the most recent photo (6 months old) - she's now 9 months and the ears don't flop so much.
Dog - Australian Kelpie
Name - Ruby
Occupation - running, jumping, playing with kids (particularly on the trampoline), digging up veggies, chasing rabbits (read spooking rabbits that I''m stalking), possums, magpies and anything else that takes her fancy. Enjoys dressing up.

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
Mine passed on a couple of years ago and at 57 I don't want to risk another living past me!
Rotty/newfoundland X, biggest, soppiest, friendliest creature on the planet used to fall asleep in a puddle and the 'roos would step across her while she snored and birds pinched fur from her for their nests. I am always tempted to rescue dogs but have to say 'no'. Always had a dog, always alongside me all day at work and play, usually longhaired Alsations but a couple of others over the years.

Here is my mutt Bindi with my daughter, Isobel and our cat Lucy last winter. The pooch hates it when the "owner" of the house, that being the cat rubs up against her...lol.
And a close up.

G'day,
Here's a photo of my best mate, Jake is a 19 month old English Staffy (no he's not cross rotty just a little different) given to me by a good mate and hunting partner when he was 6 weeks, since then I don't think there's a day we have'nt spent together.
Cheers Lindsay.
Wayno this photo was taken the same day the kohannah arrived.

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
Ok here is my little girl. Her name is Daisy
I bought her for my daughter but she loves me more.
She is a Mini foxy.
A real gentle dog. Loves hunting for any thing that moves. Almost lost her the first time she went bush.
Little bugger chased a roo and was gone for ages. We searched for her on our motor bikes but couldn't find her.
I was afraid she may have been taken by an eagle. Any way an hour later she came walking back to camp an flopped down exhausted. Now she stays with me.
Great little mate.

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
Blimey Wayno - now look what you started.
Yep - Kelpies - love them. Mine drove me nuts this morning - took off after another dog (I thought she'd settled) and played and for love nor money I couldn't catch her - she's pretty obedient the rest of the time - and when I did get a hold of her she gave me such a beseeching look - bit like Frank Spencer from Some Mothers do Ave 'em, I just couldn't give her a swipe with the "edjamacator" - which is an old feed bag with a light handle - doesnt hurt, just makes a hell of a swish - kelpie breeder and trainer down here showed me how they work.
Here's a more up to date shot.

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
Geez Brett Finger.
Some of your dogs would leave scats bigger than my whole dog.
I had an awesome bull mastiff great dane a few years ago. He was a big fellah like the one you have. Great watch dog. I used to worry when I went away that if somebody ever went in my yard I would find body parts all over the place.
He died, we think he was poisoned. One of my neighbors lost a dog the same way in the same week.
I love the big guys but I always had to worry about him. Miss him though.

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
This was my previous Puli, Bob. In this pic he is about 3. I lost him earlier this year at 14.
We have another Puli named Joe, but his coat is abominable, so no pics until it is better looking.
No, I don't look like my dog!

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
I lost a great little mate. I saw this comment on Leather Wall which really hit home.
It is a peculiar thing about dogs and men.
It would have been better if men and dogs grew from boyhood and puppyhood together.
And in so doing pass on together.
However nature is not so ordered.
So long as there are dogs and men dogs will die and men will weep for them.
Katie...... rememberd always.

Re: Show us ya Mutt.
Here's our two mutts.
The first is Bernie.
On paper he's a border collie cross Kelpie, but I think at last count, vets (and others) have mentioned about 7 breeds that they can "see in him", ranging from shepard, greyhound (due to his deep narrow chest and unbelieveable speed) kelpie all the way to dingo! The last one is probably due to his father being a wild dog from the hills behind Coffs Harbour. Whatever he is, he definately has kelpie ears!
He's a great dog. I thought having a bit of the wildside in him would make him hard to tame and train, but nothing could be further from the truth. He has the come, sit and "get 'em" commands down pat! the only time he gets a bit instinctive is if a bandicoot, cat or bush turkey get inside the back fence....... then its game on! To date I think its 3 bandicoots, 4 rabbits (tame) 2 rabbits (ferral) 1 bush turkey and a cat (ferral looking ) I don't feel bad about him taking these critters because they were all inside our fences and on his turf and I like him to have an area he can defend. Makes for a great crime deterant too! Having said that, he is quite happy to sit there and let little kids poke and prod him till they get tired and bored.......
The second mutt is Chloe. She is an Irish wolfhound that my fiance saved from the RSPCA's death row about 6 years ago. The first thing everyone says about her goes something like... "Holy crap! It's huge!" and she is. The photos don't do her justice. As a rough guide, check out the pic of the two of them together. You can kinda make out that she is taller than bernie yes? Well Bernie is as tall as a fully grown German Shapard!! Wolfhounds are a giant breed but as a result they only live about 8 years or so, so she's is getting old and slowing down a bit. Google image search them and you will get a better idea.
Anyway, enough ranting. We love our babies and wouldn't give 'em up for anything.
Thanks for listening.
