Wisemans Ferry 2018

#1 Post by Ian Turner » Mon Mar 19, 2018 2:47 pm

Many thanks go to Rob and Di and all those that assisted to make the weekend another fabulous trad event.
Had a great time from the archery perspective and certainly the social perspective.
Myself Les, and Wayne shot the field with 3 guys from the Maydaan Archery Club.
This club specialises in Turkish and Asiatic style "horsebows" based at Leppington NSW and what a great bunch of guys to shoot with.

We had many laughs as well as the serious shooting stuff and to see these guys in action with these, what i always called, little bows was quite incredible both from the speed of the bow and the speed at which the guys could nock and fire arrows.
If you are down that way on a sunday check them out they are very welcoming friendly folk.

A group of us got to talking to Amee Karat (i think he is the club pres) on saturday night about their club and about the archery style and particularly Turkish archery and its history and Amee is a living encyclopaedia on the subject and more than happy to pass on skills and knowledge of it.
I have pasted their FB page link below.

Again thanks to all for a great weekend albeit a VERY HOT ONE! Cheers

Hi Ian,
I do apologies for not posting earlier, seems the week has galloped away on me.
Yes it was a rather warm weekend. Most headed up to the 2 x 10 3D target triple pegged ranges or directly over the road to the novelities of Hunt Round, Moving Target, Speed Round and Rolling discs to keep in the shade, leaving the popinjay, clout and kings round to be done late afternoon when it was cooler. The mozzies where were many and very hungry, so bug spray was a must.
Saturday lunch was a sausage sizzle and cooked by a visiting Leprechaun.
As mentioned in Ians' post the archers from Maydaan Archery were in awe of what Rob has achieved at Wisemans as they had not done any of the novelty events before.
Thanks to Rob and Di, for allowing us to all come together for a successful weekend, and we are looking forward to the next one.
Here is a couple of photos for you.
