A few years ago the speed round gave you 30 seconds to shoot at different targets from the one point, i don't think it would have changed. Not many people shoot more than 5 arrows, if they do their accuracy is usually sacrificed as a result.

most trad events have a speed round of 30 secs as mentioned. generally only 5 or six arrows if you want them all to score well. The hunters round over 60 secs and moving from peg to peg has seen some of the top shooters get away up to 14 arrows I believe, with most scoring.

All is set & ready to go.....see you all there....
For those travelling, take care on the roads, watch out for the candy cars, they like hanging around at the F3 freeway near our club.

Got back to sunny Bondi last night. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for yet another great shoot. Had a ball despite my crappy score of 505 (which was expected to be honest). And only about five arrows bust or lost.
I love these events. Great people, the great outdoors, bows and arrows, campfires, and too much whiskey with Owen again. Doesn't get much better.
It was my friend James's first ever trad shoot (he's only shot a bow about three or four times) and he had a ball. So thanks from him too.
Top marks to the kitchen for the burgers too. They were excellent.
Cheers, Andy

Thanks to Trish and all the crew at HVTA. Great to catch up with mates and meet some of the folk on here that I had not "seen" in the flesh.

Andy, I would be delirious if I managed a score of 505
It was a great weekend, it was great to put a face to the names we so often see on here.
I do have some photos and will upload them once I get them off the camera.

I have some snap shots in & around camp...didn't get out onto the ranges, relied on others to do that for me
will post them when I resize them
It was a great weekend, great to put faces to names (Roadie)
We had 200 plus visitors & 165 registered Archers.
Looking forward to our next shoot, The "Andrew Spiechowicz Memorial Charity Shoot". Our charity this year will be The Cancer Council Research, on the October Long weekend 5th & 6th.

To all the HVTA Team,
thanks for a great weekend at the Gathering this year. This was my first time at HVTA and it really was good fun.
Although your course setter is a devil isn't he? Tiny rats at big distances were for me very challenging. And how sneaky was the standing bear shot? Here in the sunny state our bear targets are 5' tall - yours was about 3" and at the end of a tunnel of greenery so needless to say I shot way over his head. And there were lots of other challenging targets across the two ranges, not to mention the speed shoot, the hunt, rolling discs and flu flu rounds.
It was great to meet old and new friends from across Vic, NSW and Qld, see live blacksmithing demos, arrows being turned and all the rest of the things you had set up for us.
So thanks again for a fabulous weekend, I'll be sure to return in the future.

Yes he is mean but he always sets a good range. I'm sure I speak for all at HVTA in saying it was a pleasure having all the guests there.

I took one photo on the weekend using my I-phone.
I was shooting the field course nearest the front gate, had picked up my arrow and was walking back when I saw a cow pat on the ground smiling at me........I couldn't believe my eyes and I called Regina Bohler, Jake and Michael Fouracre and Andy Firth and the others from Sydney Bowmen to have a look and blow me down they pushed me out of the way to take their photos.
The eyes were mushrooms. At first I thought someone was having a lend of me.
