Possible update:The Game and Feral Animal Control Regulation

#1 Post by robmoore » Sun May 06, 2012 10:09 am

The Game and Feral Animal Control Regulation 2004 (“the 2004 Regulation”) is subject to staged repeal under the requirements of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1989.

Under this Act, most regulations are subject to automatic repeal every five years. Regulations are generally reviewed and allowed to lapse, or are remade with or without amendment.

The NSW Government is proposing to make a new Regulation, the Game and Feral Animal Control Regulation 2012 (“the proposed Regulation”). The proposed Regulation remakes, with amendments, the 2004 Regulation.

The proposed Regulation will be made under the Game and Feral Animal Control Act 2002 (“the Act”).

The objects of the Act are to provide for the effective management of introduced species of game animals, and to promote the responsible and orderly hunting of game animals on public and private land and of certain pest animals on public land.
The proposed Regulation seeks to ensure the objects of the Act are achieved by prescribing matters concerning licences including the conditions of game hunting licences, the duration of licences, licence fees, grounds for refusal of a licence and penalty notice offences.
The proposed Regulation and Regulatory Impact Statement will be available for public comment from Friday, 4th May 2012 until Friday, 8 June 2012.

Written submissions on the proposed Regulation will be accepted by mail, fax or e-mail as set out below.

The Greens really are populated by idiots aren't they.
Mr Shoebridge says the Game Council is a partisan body and should not be setting the rules.
They don't, never have, they write reports and recommendations and Parliament makes the laws.

Can't let the facts get in the way of your propaganda campaign against hunting though

Mick,
Did you notice that after all that shitefight that occurred a few years ago regarding camping and carrying bows and firearms through the National Park section of Glen Bog, Game Council look like they are taking a leaf out of National Parks book and doing the same thing? The proposed Regs make it illegal to be in posession of hunting gear in a declared state forest (without reasonable excuse... like having a licence and written permission etc... for that forest).

Wonder how the Game Managers or Police would accept camping in a SF enroute to another location? Which was the argument against Nat parks a few years ago. Dunno to what extent they want to push it...but I just don't like over-regulation for the sake of it or making criminals out of the unwittingly innocent.
Cheers,
Paul

You bet Paul. I see the "Reasonable excuse" being defined by a magistrate very quickly.
I can understand their desire to cut down on poachers, and I agree that should be given more effort, but legislative changes to just widen the net are a lazy way out, a blunt instrument that will affect many law abiding individuals (just like that stupid episode with our use of the Glenbog camp).

When can we have an open season in parliment and cull the wasters. Unfortunately this is where our national disease of apathy gets us, some good and some bad and a fair smattering of don't havea clue. But at least there is someone trying to make a difference even if it may not be exactly what we expect. Sing loud sing long sing $%^T and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Hummmmmm think i'll go kick a cat.
