Gringaholic, My New Gringa. (Pic Heavy)

#1 Post by Nutgrass » Sun May 15, 2011 6:58 pm

Well we all know how much I love the Red Belly Black long bow Rod built me. But when he made the Goat Killer (his Delex Reflex design) I was captivated by this bow.
It took me a while to wear the big fella down, he really didn't enjoy making the first one. SO it took some convincing to get him to make me one.
But I did bring him around & I was getting very excited when he mentioned in conversation he had started my new bow  8)

With all the waiting just about said & done, I got to hold the new Gringa weapon in my hands & have a few shots before the paint went on. Just to make sure I was happy with the handle (of coarse I was)
A couple of pics of Rod & I having a go of the new weapon.

Oops, a quick shot

Rod has a nack of being able to take in the finner details he observes about what people like. Meaning he knew exactly what I was after & delivered it in a sensational package.
The pics don't do this bow justice. I have been forgeting to take them & just grabbed a quick few as the light was fading tonight.

So now you have seen it, what do I think of it.

Well it's ok I suppose
Just Kidding. As usual, you can just about feel the love radiatingg out, which Rod puts into every bow.
It is absolutely unreal. You point it & pull the trigger. It sends them hurtling down the range like an american missile on an Afghan cave
I had a bit of trouble with nocks sliding on the string at first, but a 2nd nock point under where the arrow nocks quickly solved the problem :? Had me very confused on why they were flying so badly. But they are flying very well now. A bit of fine tuning & I am hoping to be shooting it at Barambah in a couple of weeks.

Another sensational Gringa creation & I now I have a problem  2 awesome bows from the Gringa fold & only 1 set of arms to shoot them. But I am sure I will cope.

Thanks for Looking.

Holy Smoke! That's the best yet, Rod! Ya gotta be over the moon with that, Gidge!
Every time I see a new Gringa I get a really strong urge to have a crack at making bows myself. :D
Bloody great, you both must be very proud of that one.
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Best bow ive seen of yours so far Rod, :D

getting closer and closer to making a recurve now... when that day happens there'll be a pm in your inbox...

more and more tempted to take up the longbow and get a Gringa after seeing this one..

having never shot a longbow, does the deflex/reflex design shoot flatter and faster than a straight laid bow ?

excellent work

Well, I'm very pleased to have made a contribution, mate! Here ya go, I'll even make it official...

I hereby bestow the name THE MISTRESS upon this bow, may all the arrows that fly from her find their mark. :D

I'm also available to name children, dogs, cars, boats and houses at a very reasonable price.

Gidget that is a beauty. Your rightly pleased with this lovely creation. Glad you were able to talk the old bloke into it.

I must have has some spare time to relent I guess...he hasn't announced a new grandchild for weeks.

Rod, I am so glad to see a quality Deflex/Reflex bow being made by an Aussie Bowyer. It is the style of longbow I prefer and why I have purchased this type so often from the US.

I hope you are amicable to create more of these in the future. I look forward to seeing your efforts for a recurve.

I'd love to see a small risered narrow but thick limbed static tip recurve from you or one of the other Aussie talents.

Anyway Rod and Gidget..congrates.

Cheers

Troy
