2 sleeps to go..........woohoo............. :D

the weather is absolutely beautiful, it is rather warm and sunny - hope I don't run out of t-shirts.......... there is a river and a rock, so I'll be right to wash...... it's warmer and dryer here than in QLd of late.....

we had 2 more Qld camps turn up today, so we are here in force.

See you all here tomorrow. Beautiful clear sky this evening, and I won't need my blankee......

For the lost souls go to google maps, type in Laughtondale, NSW and you get a picture of the front gate, so you shouldn't get geographically embarrased.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to type so many words, when you have been celebrating happy hour or two again..........cheers, hiccup :P

cheers

1 sleep to go.....

there have been a few more Qld'ers turn up today, as well as Victorians and lots from NSW and ACT this afternoon, so the Tim Tam Cup will be an interesting tussle..

The wind is going to make the clout shoot interesting, and also the popinjay, if it is still blowing tomorrow... - not to mention doing nothing for my hairdo.... :D
We've had a little rain this arvo, but nothing to dampen our enthusiam...............

This is going to be a beauty.

cheers to all, and see you there.

Hey All,

Just got back from a Saturday at Wiseman's Trad shoot. Can't do both days as I have to work Sunday (tomorrow), but thought I would quickly say what a top notch day I just had. Thanks Rob. Enjoyed myself thoroughly. One of the best events on the calendar. What a pleasure to see a 'Snag & Onions on white bread-free' menu. And I also now have an excuse to make some pointlessly, over-the-top highly finished flu flu's.

Excellent day.

Cheers,

Andy Firth

what a great shoot
thank you Lady Di, Robert and Simon
thank you angels in the kitchen
thank you the sponsors....and prize donors. If Towball ever buys more than three tickets weare in strife.

Congrats to Longbow Steve and Reggie, two New South Welshpersons [AA shooters shooting Steve's Alchemy bows] shoot out winners

Well done the many Canadians, the really excellent locals and the gallant small team representing the Mexicans [clan Stringstick]

real fun on a top course.

Sue Wallace is going to send me some figures . perhaps we should do imaginary results for the Tim Tam cup this year and hope that the Mexican clan can find a few more friends with bows. The imaginary results should set the trend for performance improvement.
A couple of us counted 12 kaki handers out of 15 on the practice line at one stage.

Other results

NSW sledging team first [Towball and LBI]

First synchronised single person packing up a camp [synchronised because it was done to two time zones and in front of a 10 person judges panel].......LBI

Largest cheer of the day.......G Amy and said team of judges

Best photos plural G Amy........where are the images GA?

Best single photo pic taken by Shane of my Jessica shooting off the porcelain stool

Most impressive shooting I saw ...Longbow Steve hitting eight kills in the Safari and one miss....and he ran out of arrows

Did I ask you GA where are the images?????? To be fair GA will not be home for a few days

What a great shoot. I hadn't been before but am now an absolute fan. I'll also considerably thank Robert, Lady Di and Simon. Notable that I also finally got to catch up with Mr A, in the flesh, rather than by the airwaves. Also good to renew aquaintances with a number of people on Ozbow. If you haven't been to this shoot you must go to the next one. Impressive the number of Quenslanders who came down.

Would have liked to have seen that. I knocked it off in the practice round then only touched it a couple of times when it mattered.

you found some kooky weird longbowers? I am horrified on your behalf. Tellme their names so we can get rid of the sane ones....we cannot have that sorry state of affairs.

Evening All.

I am back in Warn Brisbane. Ask people about Saturday - even the Victorians were complaining about the slightly Antarctic conditions.

The weekend was great. There were people who were members of AA, AA 3DAAA and some who were not a member of anything and I never heard a bad said about the different disciplines over the whole weekend - it was just a great group of people having fun shooting arrows.

Rob, Di and the other helpers deserves a huge thanks and food was great.

I have a few photos to sort. But just to give you a taste check out the face on this Vic' Archer - was it due to Bow or the Antarctic conditions. (Note the Dakota look alike in the background.)

I will hopefully be also loading some slo-mo's of said archer so that you all will have the opportunity to critique his form or lack thereof.

Nothing to do with archery but handy to know. There are 10 Chains in a Furlong and 40 Rods in a furlong and so a rod (pole or perch) is 5 1/2 yards and the other things are called Gabions. It is faster by the Pacific Highway than the New England Highway even with roadworks.

What a great weekend of shooting arrows.

Top marks to Rob, Diane, Simon, Narelle, Custard Man and helpers for making the shoot a memorable event.

Good company, good food and shooting heaps of arrows.

Afternoon All.

At the event there was a number of different challenges for participants to achieve over two days and you could shoot them in any sequence or at any-time. The only requirement was to have your scorecards in by the allotted time on Sunday.

There was two target scores to be submitted and the target range was unmarked distance with 8 arrows at 3 different distances. A double clout and you could choose your distance 100, 110 and 120 yards or something like that. Two lots of Popinjay. Two field courses - the field course being laid in the side of the escarpment wall, lots of uphill and downhill shots. Two lots of moving targets which included, Running pigs, speed round, rolling discs. All in all you were kept busy.

I was taking photos with two cameras and I have not sorted them in order so you will be jumping a bit over the event but that is good for you. :D

Time for some photos.

This photo was a fluke. When I first saw it I could not work out why Andy was shooting two arrows. I have fluked getting the arrow from the archer closer to me just about in the right position as he shot it.

More of clout shooters. Most people had chosen to shoot the shortest distance as the wind was blowing the arrows about quite significantly

Over at the Speed round. 1/2 dozen or so target and you have to shoot them from the witches hats and run, walk, shuffle between shots. (Her Mum and Dad said I could post the photo.)

Wollongong - close enough.

WarBow - the first. http://www.ozbow.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10333

Grahame, re image 8 and 9,"Did he hit the target or not?" Looks like he didn't; looks like he's in the process of making an utterance  . On the law of averages I reckoned he missed it  .

Back home tired weary and full of memories. Where was my Victorian support I say! Hopefully things work out and next time a few more can wonder up because this is an event not to miss. kevin my brother (not pictured I think) was thoroughly impressed by you all and i think maybe one to join the ranks of trad archery.

Really appreciate, on his and Josh's behalf, the warm welcome i knew you would all give them.

My apologises to all warbowers for my pathetic score but me and my nackerd shoulder gave it our best shot. I pulled up rather well and better than expected tho so no doubt and im silly enough to do it again some day :) Maybe even with the longer arrows that will allow 'in the bow' shooting.

Many thanks to Grahame A for the photos that bring to life the memories. Those two cats may have survived the victorians but when I finally found my range on the third (not pictured) the wararrow snapped the feral creatures little head back so far I thought its was going to decap it.

Great to catch up with so many friends, its always over too early.
congrats to winners,...thats all of us :) and a big warm hug to those in the kitchen..yes that includes you mr pumpkin man.

I have it on good authority that he did better on these.
