Afternoon all

As of this w'end, there are only 8 weeks til the Hunter Valley Traditional Archers annual "Gathering".

I have mailed out our flyer for this to many of our archers that attended last year & the previous years and you can also download it from this thread.

I have noticed that there are a few Trad shoots on around this time but this is the only one on in NSW, only you can decide for youselves which one you would like to attend.

We look forward to many of you attending.

Trish,

amongst all your other duties,
have you taught those pesky trees to dodge broadheads yet?
Your trees and stumps are far too easy to hit.

Kev,

The broadhead range is probably the highlight for me...! For some reason it seems to just add that extra element..... To me, it really gives you a good indication of how well tuned your hunting setup is....!

I cant wait...! :D

Morning All

Not long now, only 24 days til the HVTA Gathering.

Remember Archers to bring your Broadheads, as we do have a Broadhead range for the over 16's.

Scoring on this range will not be included in the overall score.

For more info don't hesitate to contact me.

Afternoon all

Been out to the club today getting things ready for next w'end. Should be a great w'end.

No rain today, hopefully it will stay that way til after the shoot. It's looking that way keeping fingers etc crossed.

There will be someone at the club from Wednesday, so if you wish to arrive early, that will be ok.

If you require more info just email me.

See you at the shoot.

The last trip from the Gathering to blow in the bag the young policewoman thought she had hit the jackpot when she saw the knives, axes, 6 bows, around a hundred arrows in 5 quivers......it took a while for her to calm down and consult her superviser who laughed when he set her straight.....he was a bowhunter.

Hi Trish,

It will be my first time attending and I'll bring my 11 year old along... I've heard lot's of stories from Kevin and Steve Farell about this event all good of course!!!

Will be arriving early Saturday morning before 10am I hope....
There will be two others (Mike & Jake) from Sydney Bowmen but I don't think they are camping and may only stay for Saturday... I've asked all the other Longbower's at the club but none can make it...

Kev if you promise not to snore too loud we may set up close to you and Jess :)

I can promise....

but I stil recommend that you get to sleep first.

You guys will probably get there before us.
Try to get a spot near trees and tie up a tarpaulin between them....gives better weather protection and put your tent up on the one side with your car on the other, that shoould muffle the zzzzzzzzzzzs a bit. Try to get set up a short but not too close trip away to the portaloo.

Have you got a headlamp for both of you?

Jessie and I were a bit sad that Steve will not be there but things are looking up with you and your crew coming. Having said that the people there are great. The lady archers are really proficient and there are more of them shooting longbow than you normally compete against. They really welcome extra competition. Pity the boys are wussing out on the camping. All they need is a couple of tarps [top and under and an air bed and blankets].

Jessie and I would be honoured if you two or four wanted to shoot as a group. It might help as we know our way round/know what to expect and it will give you someone easy to beat.......me....not Jessie. She has made the ladies final shoot of before.

I will take my cooking gear even though I normally buy food there so throw in a couple of things like your coffee machine etc. You can even have hot water /warm milk for your oats. They do keep a humongous hot water urn going most of the day and night but Jessie likes plenty of hot water for her hot water bottles at night....talk about being spoilt.

If you have a few broadhead arrows there is also a broadhead 3D range for those over 16.
If not I can bring a couple of extra. There is also a shoot here you use flu flus. If you have some bring them but if you do not I think you can borrow some of theirs.

See you there.

Steve's lady is a peach and not the problem. Steve has been having too much fun.
Steve took a week off to go to the AA nationals a couple of weeks ago and he took time off to hunt with his Dad and then go hunting with Jeffro. Steve works as the 2-i-c at a NRMA franchise and pulls relief week end shifts so the guys doubled up to give him the time off. It was my fault that he went to the Nats [and the lure of meeting and shooting against Darryl Reeks who by the way if you do not know him is a top bloke as well as a top shot....we had a great time in Brizzie courtesy of Mr G Amy and crew]

Be good to see you and your family Woodie. Jess is female....nuff said. I got invited to go to a couple of other shoots but Jess was not having any of that. Been fixing and making gear for her all week.

Morning All

Yes, not long now.

For all those who have dogs, PLEASE keep them on a leash & sorry, no dogs will be allowed on the ranges.
PLEASE keep them in your camp. Also best not to bring them down near the canteen area.

If you want your dogs to have a free run, PLEASE come and see the HVTA committee before you do so, we will let you know where it will be safe to do so.

As for Kevins snoring, he is amongst many others, some nights it sounds like freight trains going through camp......ohhh sorry, it's the coal trains near by

Look forward to seeing you all.

I'm heading to the club shortly to take out new targets for the Speed Range, proudly donated & sponsored by Bushbow 3D targets.

Trish

Trish, I was going to let that be a little surprise for Reggie to find that out. At least the trees do not snore, they only whisper.

Jeffro,

yes mate, I think it depends on when you look at the forecast...

Looks like we may see some passing showers Sunday, but I am sure that may change yet again by the weekend...!

we always have a great time rain, hail or shine...

I survived 4 days in wild weather back in 2007 Gathering, it won't be like that, that happened last week :)

See ya
