wohoo! I'm in :)

Cant wait to catch up with Dave' and his horse bow that he shoots off the chest :) How he manages to hit anything is beyond me, but his kung fu was very good on the last day...especially the last round.

Hopefully Steve [Holland?] will be there as well.

Shot with these 2 [and John the Irishman - Lily' clubber] at the Lilydale trad' 2dayer last month - they obviously made an impression as did all I met that weekend.

Cant wait - just gotta figure out what 'Clout' shooting is :?

Like a target thats been laid on the ground.

I was confused because I've seen where they aim at shields - same same but different???

I'm in big time...

Picked up my lami' Yew / glass' 75inch / 60lb LB from the PO today. Photos to follow soon [as soon as I find my battery charger for my camera].

I swear...trad' bows and arrows are a work of Art - and I intend to do a 'tradbound' and break as many arras' as I can LoL!!!

*No offence meant Tony - you welcomed me to Lilydale...I dont forget that stuff.

Any ideas how to seal the arrows and bow appreciated.

Mal
No offence taken, glad you felt welcome. Its a easy sport to be hooked into. I look forward to seeing your new bow. and catching up again.
As to sealing arrows the following a just a few options
Minimax Wipe (I think that is what it is called)
Danish oil
Estapol
Tung Oil
Linseed/turps oil
you can spray, brush, wipe or dip depending on what you use. Just do a google search you will be reading for days
Enjoy, hope to see you soon.

whoo-hoo Nev :D

Hue

ps hey Mal, try the spray on estapol, fast and relatively finger clean. just find somewhere to hang the arras'! (an old string hung across something and some clothes pegs does it for me) and no, you don't want to break as many arrows' as Tony did - it's a nickname that sticks!

Thanks Gents' :) I was put onto 'minimax' as per Tradbounds' advice...spoke with an LB owner at Wyndham Rebels shoot today and he also reco'd minimax [bunnings supply=easy wallet :)]. I think I'll try that, as my first intended 'must have' tru-oil seems as rare as hens crowing at dawn [yeah I know I can get it from gun-smiths / sellers etc] but everywhere I've tried [OK 2 places] can order it in but not in stock...

Arrows and Bow: damp cloth swathed in mini' and simply wipe and dry....

many thanks all for the advice.

I have to sincerely apologize. I cant make this shoot, as we have the GTB-ABA 2day event on the same weekend. 21/22nd November.

Deepest regrets...but at least now I'll be able to make the Ballarat trad' shoot the week later. For whatever reason, I honestly thought the Clout shoot was on the same weekend of the Ballrat trad' 2dayer...in which case I was going to shoot Clouts on the Saturday, and then head over to share the campfire at Ballarat and shoot the final day.

Hey BMB Mal,
shame you cant make it, it is a great part of our sport.

We run this event to keep the clout flame alive and also to give those who do not have the space at their club to run one a chance to practice for when the state titles come up. The more people doing it the higher the quality of the archers and the more chance there is that it will not be dropped from the events AA holds. Longbows and recurves are the mainstay of clout now.

So anyone who is thinking of coming along please let us know and help us keep the clout event alive and well. Seeing a line of clout archers launching arrows skywards is about as close as we can get to seeing the mass formations of the medieval english archers going to work on those sorry french! huzzah!

Gav

ps: iti s not a costumed event, we like to make it a serious (as it get in trad, still room for sledging!) event as close to what you would expect at the AA titles. We figure if you know what it is all about people are more likely to go to the clout AA holds.

Just been given the bad news that I have to work in Vic 17th - 20 th November.....I might have to attend the clout shoot. I cannot believe my rotten luck.

Libby can you add me to the list.
Can I pay on the day? Full freight, timber arrows, flatbow under 45# with shelf....old fart division.

I will not win but I can cause merry hell and havoc.....then run away.
