Evidence of excellence - Lilydale ABA 3D shoot 2 weeks ago.

#1 Post by Stephen Georgiou » Mon Jun 01, 2009 2:27 pm

The conversation came around about how trad shooters have been picking up the game in regards to accuracy.
A year ago, many of the wheelie boys would scoff at the long bow shooters.
Now things are changing.
Here are a couple of photos that highlight the skill level of today's trad gang.
By the way, the scores on the day where a good indicator as well. the ABA Hunter unlimited (compound bow with pin sights) was won with a score of 630.
The traditional class was won with a score of 666 with the first 5 places having a score of 630 +.

check out the photo of the raptor target. notice all of the trad arrow in the target and all of the carbons in the tree behind.

Great Stuff Steve, thanks for sharing those photos, those boyz at Lilydale are excellent ambassadors for trad no doubt about it, and I believe you are right with more events being held the accuracy is lifting for sure.

You boys shot extremely well, no doubt about it.

The top compound shooters did score around the 760/770 mark, the halfway crowd, thats modern gear with fingers were outperformed by the Trad gang for sure! Perhaps they should take the wheels off!

For those who want a bit more 3D, Lilydale will be having another 3D Challenge later this month, I will post more details in a couple of days.

Very scary Tony I was 5 in 66
You don't shoot like a grand dad 8)
But then again, this caper has many great shooters in their 50's and 60's
Isn't Daryl Reeks the world IFFA champion and record holder at the moment?
He's no spring chicken.
So there is plenty of time for young blokes like me to pick up our game

The only problem with our shoots is our Zimmer frames getting keeping tangled with our longbows.
Hell there has to be a way around this :)
