Re: Lilydale 2 Day 3D Trad Shoot 12/13 Sept
Thanks Mick I have been thinking about this for some time and this thread caused me to jump to it. I like the idea that we can get together and start coordinating Traditional Archery is this way. I believe if we do it right it could become the biggest sector in Archery. The whole idea that Archery can be fun has been lost in mainstream Archery and this is exactly what Traditional Archery offers. Holding events that have a casual feel with the fierce competition there for those who want it is great. Novelty events, Ariel shoots, fast rounds and moving targets are fun. To incorporate these events into a shoot calendar and competition series will be a blast. Imagine having national records for these events!
I am sure that there will be a fair bit of work in making this happen but I love a challenge.

i smell something concrete happening here. something big and good!
i've already spoken to Stephan about his website and can't wait to see it up and perhaps help out.
i'll be at the BG's turnout because i had committed to that. i would love to be at Lilydale, but the date moved!

Re: Lilydale 2 Day 3D Trad Shoot 12/13 Sept
June, we might even get another "snow" shoot.
Dress warm.
Clarkey (Rinehart Targets) will be involved in the course layouts for our 3D challenge and our 3D Trad "challenge?", so I suspect them both to live up to the "challenge". (is that enough challeges in one sentance?)
Thanks Gary and Damien for taking the lead and reworking the dates so we can all enjoy more 3D Archery.

Re: Lilydale 2 Day 3D Trad Shoot 12/13 Sept
We can obtain visas to enter your state to attend this shoot from the north.
Do we need to belong to an association to shoot in this shoot?
We are interested in attending, can you give us a little bit more info.

Hi Robert.
Visa's not required, we accept anyone within limits.
Gazzah or Dewi can answer your Association question. They won't be online tonight as they were at the club just awhile ago.
The course is set in the forest with a creek we are at the foothills of the Dandenongs 40 kms east of Melbourne ( Mexico for you guys)on the suburban edge. Clark who sell Reinharts 3Ds is involved in the set up.
Look up the thread on LB100 it will give you an idea. Camping on site available, basic showers and toilets, powered by generator. Large club house with kitchen in door range. Closest train station is 10 mins away Boronia. Shops 5/10 mins in all directions.
Meals will be available at very reasonable prices.
I expect a fair few Ozbowers both southeners and Northerns. there are a few people who are bowyers or traditional equipment makers, knifemakers and hopefully a couple of sellers of equipment nug nug Trad Bits (Scrub Bull) and Wildwood archery (White Hawk)
Lilydale would probably have in excess of 20 Stickbowers (both regular and closet) we are getting 16 or more at regular shoots.
Lots of good laughs and fine hospitality
Hope that helps
Cheers TonyJ

ABA have an old policy that past members must rejoin, if you have never been a member of ABA, then just roll up and we can accomodate you.Robert wrote:We can obtain visas to enter your state to attend this shoot from the north.

When travelling to our state at that time of year (for you northmen) it may be wise to invest in some long sleeves and pants. Shorts and singlets may not provide quite enough thermal properties.
And watch out for the Local - addicted to speed camera revenue - government/coppers. I just heard they plan to more than double the hours for each revenue/speed camera.
Camping on site.

Scruby
I bet you bring something to flog even if you fly. With your charm you could sell suba diving to poms. Couldn't you

Hey Scrub Bull, you can drive the shop down for the Dunolly shoot on the 22nd, come to our feast and traders fair on the 29th & 30th, surely someone can find you a shoot for the first week in September, and then Lilydale on the 2nd weekend. With the way we all break arrows you will make more than enough to cover your fuel

So can I just check, the 3d challenge is on the 21st of June at The Basin?... Sounds like a plan. Sorry if I missed it, but what time should we be there for registration and all of that? (my lunch break was over 5 mins ago so I can't keep looking)
Thanks guys, see you there.

Make sure you have this one in your calendar.
There will be a really good 3D range and there will be some novelty events so bring those flu flus. For those of you who make crafts or are into bush crafts bring the along and share them. I sure we can set up a trading table or two or three.
It would be good if you are coming to give us some indication so we can plan ahead. Catering will be available.
If you want to see some brilliant camp cooking I would suggest you set you self up near Richard Baker from Lilydale between his fresh herbs , chicken stew and the red wine he makes you won't get to see a better meal. The smell is to die for. At our LB (Longbow)100 when I came back on the second day a few unnamed gentlemen seemed to have died or aleast many a red wine had past on.
Hope to see you on the range
Cheers Tony
