Hi Sue, Kevin and myself will be attending aswell as 4 others (non ozbow members) from the Blue Mountains that I am aware of.
They generally get a good turnout at Robs place.

I've had it in the back of my mind to attend this and what with the ABA nats, then away last weekend at a wedding in Newcastle, and flat-out at work, I haven't yet entered. Could somebody tell me the format re types of events. I note that wood arrows are only needed for final shoot-outs-shootoffs. Doesn't look to be anything specific for self-bows (is this right) so looks like I'd be better to shoot my 40lb conventional glass laminated longbow. Looks like some target involved and if so what is the max distance? Need to take flu-flu's. I've heard it's a great event but it's obvious I know nothing about the format  .

Hi Simon, I can only tell you how I think it will be from discussions I have heard from the organisers, maybe one will let us know for sure.
Whilst you are welcome to shoot with any arrow type only timbers will be competitive on the day. Field round 20 targets out to 40 yards, as steep as Tuggeranong if not more and thow in some tractor tyres etc to shoot through.
Target will be 50m 40m 30m 90 arrows? Maybe less?
It will be a fun weekend, Rob puts on a fun shoot. Steve

Thanks for the info Steve, I'll see if I can get myself organised to get up there. Need to get some work done at home this weekend. About a five hour drive for me I think.

Cheers

Simon

we had a great time - from the food and hospitality, the weather was beaut, the scenery from the field course range was spectacular, to the wide variety of events and the number of arrows shot- and that was just on Saturday. Meeting and talking to a lot of new people and putting faces to names of people from the ozbow site, was also good.

If you didn't make it - you missed a good one and should mark October shoot at Wisemans Ferry on your Traditional calender.

Thanks to the organisers, alot of work went into the shoot. Great to meet Sue and Steve Wallace, between you guys and Scrubbull QLD's economy has just had a cash injection :D .
I only managed 3 photos as my memory card was full  , hopefully Trish will be kind enough to post some :) .
A run down of the shoot was-
Target - 50yds 43yds 30yds
Clout - 125-145yds?
Field and 3d - 20 targets in total from 5yds to 40 yds very steep shots were a feature of the terain.
Running pig - 5 shots from different pegs, target travelling at an estimated 100 klm an hour  , buggered if I could get it :)
Hunter round - 6 3d's at 5m - 25m 1 minute to move from peg to peg, once all were done you could repeat in any order for bonus points.
Rolling Disc- 6 20cm foam targets rolled down a slippery dip 5 meters in front of the archer again at an estimated speed of 100klms/hr

Sounds like a great shoot. Looks like there was a variety of events. At the ABA Nats Howard O'Connell and John Gaston were talking in terms of wooden arrows only being needed for the shootoffs for the Wiseman's Ferry event. I take it that it was wood shafts all the way through?

Hi Simon, it was a great shoot. Timber arrows were the only competitive arrow type all the way through. I didnt see any carbons or alloys in anyones quiver. Steve
