Hi there Tony J..As a personal assistant to the Sheriff of Nottingham (Guy Gisborne) I would hold the rule that "I am in many Camps". But... My total allegiance is to the Black Griffins. Korean..Native American....Are the many styles I embrace in bow style. Looking forward to a match real soon. :)

Alas the call of the WARBOW has me in its spell, but as there is a 'royal hunt' in the arvo I will be taking up the mighty bow of the east to take some 3D game....

Battle clout in th morning and 3D in the arvo, it doesn't get any better....

Well guys, just over a week to go :) What I'm wondering about is how people would feel about thier painted boogie boards being shot with bodkins ? I'm thinking we might allow target points in the warbow division so as to not cause too much damage to the targets. If you are thinking of shooting warbow ,to qualify you will need a medieval style elb of min draw of 70lb at 30" :)
We are encouraging people to wear medieval gear for the battle clout ( but its not compulsory ) but you can wear whatever you want for the 3d round in the arvo :)

From what we saw at yarra valley the sheilds won't get to badly shot up.
The bodkins may do some damage though.
I say unless some actually says they have a problem with them then we should proceed normal and cross that bridge if it comes up.

hey Morgan

when Yarra Bowmen held the "first battle clout", we had a chap who wanted to shoot small broadheads and he seemed perplexed when i said he couldn't (OH and S), that was my decision and based on safety proceedures that we must follow under our insurance policy and i don't know of any club that would allow you to shoot those on their field (aba or otherwise) but it would be interesting to see bodkins being used, that's for sure!

After thinking about it we will make bodkins optional and we can allow them under our insurance as the event classifies as a historical re-enacment :)

I haven't been on the forum lately but it seems the this event is getting a lot of chatter. I think bodkins for me and Hue, hope your bow can reach 120m.

Ohhhh Southern Fox

i will be shooting right next to you so you won't be tempted to sneak forward, all in the name of "reality" (whatever you think that may be, Foxy).
Morgan, will you guys be putting on breakfast, or do i have to mop up English and French slops on the field.

Sorry guys no breakfast, I recommend either a bakery in the main st or macca's.

As for people creeping forward - can't happen. Fixed battle formations people, with ranks moving forward periodically

Bakery it will have to be, arhh a good Croissant or baguette maybe a cornish pastie or a bakewell tart to get with the theme.

Macca's doesn't roll of the english or french tongue as well but you know maybe we will just have to lower our standards. Thats of course if thats possible I hear some of you say.
See you on Sunday

What is zis "French Slops" Hue  ... Crisp French Baguette and Duck A'Lorange will be consumed as mercenary fare to the distant clatter of the cold gruel bowls of the English.
Weather forecast looks OK for the battle.. :D

Sir Len of the chicken pizza here, thought I should mention that solid footwear will be a must for the afternoons Royal Hunt as the area will be wet and slippery. A hot thermos might be a good idea too :)

Thanks to all at LMS for a great day again! And wasn't it great to see so many kids having fun and shooting well in the 3D hunt!

I haven't seen kids having such a good time for along time, many smiling faces at the end, both big kids and small....
