Wildwood Traditional Shield

#1 Post by Mike-dy » Sat Mar 01, 2008 4:10 pm

Before Mick gets back to Geelong and posts :D I'd just like to thank the guys from Wildwood and Bows Arrows and Bits for organising what was a great shoot today. No danger of damage to my Wallace woods there :D
Great to get together for the first Trad event in Vic for the year looking forward to the others.
If only they were all so close to home.

Cheers,
Mike

Mike

Your fantasic Steve Wallace arrows were actually in some danger. I noticed a couple of times that they made disturbing noises when you smacked yet another one into an already tight group.

Congratulations too mate, on being a member of the winning team.

It was indeed a great day. It was good to catch up with old mates and have a shot together. :D

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Hey tim, my tens were few and far between. Your superior shooting 'carried' our team.

Hopefully we'll be able to get together again for the next Wildwood Shield event and show 'em what we're made of.

It was a great and unique event. As far as I know there has never been an event like it. An indoor all trad. team event. I will try and post some pics soon. Bit late at the moment.

I'd like to thank Wildwood for putting this event on. They worked very hard behind the scenes to make it all happen. Well done boys. :D

Sorry about the ones lying down. My computer fights me and won't turn them even though I turn and save. I don't have the results sheets. Would someone please add the names of the archers in the winning photos. ta

I wonder who the imbecile was who shot that one arrow sticking out well above the target faces in the last photo?

Really was a great day and congrats to the winners. Well done to Leigh and Gav for getting this sort of event up and giving us more types of comps to try. For the LMS archers it was a great learning experience, a lot different to what we normally would do but you need to be able to shoot accurately regardlees of it being 18 , 50 or 145 metres.
The other thing about these events of course is the chance to catch up with all the archers for a good chin-wag :)

Yes Hardgainer I did shoot the new Cascade T/D recurve.I now have three 52" T/D recurves, two Cascades and a Bighorn. The new bow really looks good with the selway side mount quiver on as the Bubinga wood matches the rawhide of the quiver.Cascade have dropped their prices, the new bow cost $60 US less than I expected to pay. Also PM me so I know who talking to.

Nev

I think there was one female contestant there. :)

matt61

Very well done mate.

I was a little bit dubious when I saw you with the 52 inch Cascade. I even mentioned to you before the event started that it might be a bit 'twitchy and unforgiving'. If it was, your score certainly didn't indicate it. :)

wildwood shoot

#17 Post by matt61 » Mon Mar 03, 2008 6:04 pm

Thanks Mick ,I have been shooting short bows for almost two years now and I find that release has a lot to do with it and a fat string, my Bighorn bow came with a eighteen strand string on it.I thought I would be clever and make a fifteen strand string and get some more speed out of it,no way put the eighteen strand string on and it shoots beautiful and that was after much swearing, self abuse and empty Bundy cans.So I will be twisting up eighteen strand string for the Cascade.
