WA Gathering

#1 Post by Chris » Sat Dec 01, 2007 4:07 pm

Hi All

I would like to have a gathering for all the WA shooters on Saturday the 2nd of Feb at the Glenn Eagles archery club.
I live in Newman and will be flying to Perth on Friday the 1st and will be busy with other commitments starting from the Sunday the 3ed, so Saturday is the only day I have free (that’s why I am giving you 3 months notices).
So let me know if you can make it.

Hi Chris,

Good to hear you're wanting to get out for a shoot in February. I have to say that I still prefer Hoddywell. I don't know whether I would shoot at Gleneagles again: the course needs a bit of cleaning up. At the last 3D shoot, there were plenty of arrows lost in the scrub behind targets (not enough backdrops or butts) or broken on rocks lying around the course. Granted that these shoots are designed to be like the real thing, but when you come away with half your gear lost it can take away the fun of shooting. I ended up letting one guy shoot some spare wooden shafts I had in my quiver as his had all gone - after two more targets, they vanished into the bush as well! At least Hoddywell caters for someone like me that's still getting used to my bow's performance and overshot arrows are usually recoverable.
"The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark." (Michelangelo Buonarroti)

Gleneagles is a bowhunting club and makes no appologies for that, ( at least when I was on the committee ) target shooting is well catered for at Hoddywell if you want to pay the price.

Hi Archangel

I originally wanted to go to Hoddywell but he is closed on Saturdays.
If you know of a better club or a more shooter friendly course we can go there.
I would like to catch up with you and see how the misses’ bow is coming along.
