Well the weekend has gone by again & we at Hunter Valley Traditional Archers had our last shoot for the year.

Instead of just sticking the targets out in the bush like we useualy do, we decided to have Archery Golf.

Yes you read it right Archery Golf :D , instead of using clubs & balls we used our bows & Flu Flu's were the order for the day.

The course was 14 Holes/Targets with the longest shot being 460 meter par 6 & the shortest being 68 meter par 2. All names were put in a bag & teams of up to 6 players were sent out to enjoy themselves.

There were no hole-in-ones though there were reports of a couple close ones.

Winning team were given club stubby holders & second place received club keyrings, after which we had set down to our christmas lunch.

Hear are some picks of the outing.

That's what I like to see, someone trying something a bit different. Some of the blokes at the Geelong Archers have often said, "How cool would it be, to play a game of archery golf one day.", but we've never got around to it, well not as yet anyway.

You'll have to tell us more about how you played. Things like how you did the scoring and what you used for targets, etc.

Thanks for the photos too mate, I haven't seen any action shots for ages. 8)

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Mick Smith,

I hope this answers your questions. As for targets used we only have 3D's no paper silhouettes or buts to speak of, we do have practice buts, but we don't use them on the range.

HVTA Inc. Archery golf rules.

 Maximum 6 players per team.
 Flu flu only to be used.
 Ensure fairway and target area is cleared of all other players before commencing shooting.
 Shoot only in the direction of target as indicated by markers.
 All shooters must shoot from the start peg for each target.
 Team must nominate one player per target (1 through 6) so scores are recorded against each player in team.
 When all players in team have shot walk up to the nominated players arrow and all team members to shoot again from that position until all players reach the target.
 When you reach the target, PUTT shot to be taken from the 5 mtr. Peg at designated zone until all players have shot.
 If any arrows over shoot the target do not shoot back toward the target, only from the 5 mtr peg.
 Scores to be recorded for the total number of shots taken by the nominated player to hit the designated score zone for each target.
 Penalty stroke to be added & recorded against nominated player if arrows are out of bounds ie in the water, in a tree or broken.
 Add your score sheets & hand in for your team at end of round.
