GREAT OZBOW THUMBRING COMPETITION

#1 Post by GrahameA » Sun Aug 12, 2007 4:51 pm

Good Afternoon Ozbow Members

The GREAT OZBOW THUMBRING COMPETITION

Axe has put up a Thumbring and a copy of Kay's Thumbring Book as a prize for a competition. Thank you Axe.

http://www.ozbow.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=5402

To make it as fair as possible it has been decided to go with a photo competition. Many Ozbow members seem to have access to a digital camera so that makes it relatively easy. Judges for the comp are Jeff and myself. (Both Jeff and I can, and probably will, enter but we are barred from winning.) To enter the comp you need to post a photo to this thread. Maximum width 600 pixels and please set you jpeg compression to 30/100. (ie try to get a file size of less than 50kb).

Closing date is Monday fortnight - 27th August Midnight.

That gives you two weekends to take the photo.

The subject is "Wildlife"

And a photo of your last party does not count. What we would like to see is a photo of some wildlife - that can be anything from something you hunted to a Gecko or a Butterfly in your backyard.

The main criteria are -
it is wildlife
the photo adequately exposed.
subject in focus
creativity and appeal

Enter as many photos as you wish. Be creative.

Winner will be announced on here and we will notify Axe of the lucky winner.

We would also like to get some higher resolution copies of the photos - just pm them to me - so that we can use them for frontpage images. Yes, a double chance at fame and fortune.

Any questions, just post them on the thread.

Anysia,
Your close up shots are really stunning. Great photos so far from everyone.

Hi All

Took my camera along with me today to see if I could get a couple of snaps. Very overcast and thus a few issues with long exposures, long lenses and no tripod,

But they look okay

Good Evening All

Given the high quality of the entries it was a hard choice to make. However, both Jeff and I agreed that Sackett's Squirrel photo was the best.

Well done.

We would also like to mention Archangel's dog and Anysia's Meerkats. It was a hard decision.
