Hey guys looking forward to meeting up with you all down there. I have but one question the rest I will leave for when I'm there.
Question is will the guy that makes the throwing axe's out of rail spike be there as I'm interested in acquiring a couple.

Timbow It will only be Scuzz and myself no third party.

Till next week see you all there.

Lochmoy/Timbo/Matt/Len

I think we should retain the different divisions, but I can't see any reason why we couldn't have one overall winner that crosses divisional boundaries. The overall winner would be the person with the highest score, regardless of whatever equipment that person might have been using. So basically, I'm advocating the creation of an extra combined division winner.

I agree with most previous statements that have pointed that there's not much difference between the scores of equally skilled archers who might happen to use slightly different equipment. Once a person has practiced with their chosen gear and have all their equipment matching and shooting well, it all then comes back to skill and skill alone, regardless of whether they're shooting a longbow, recurve, self bow or whatever, so long as wooden arrows are used as well as no shooting aids, such as sights, clickers or stabilizers.

Gnome

I'm looking forward to meeting you and Scuzz at Morwell. 8) I'm not sure if Jeff Blakey will be at the event or not. He lives at Donald, which is a long way from Morwell. His forged hawks are very popular and he always sells quite of few of them at trad shoots.

Gee Tim, it sounds as though you've outdone yourself. 8) :D

The castle clout sounds very interesting.

I just hope we can find the time to fit it all into our hectic weekend.

Not even my wife smashing up the family car today has dampened my enthusiasm for this weekend. She's OK but the car is going to need a whole new front bumper, bonnet and both front guards (not to mention the motor?) after it's run in with a tree. Now, instead of travelling in the relative luxury of the Commodore, I've been relegated to a rough, bouncy, and tightly packed in trip in my little Suzuki 4WD instead, but my son, Owen and I will be there and that's the main thing.

I've just come inside after trialing 3 different bows, one of which, I will be shooting on the weekend. Yes, it's sad I know, but I'm finding it hard making up my mind. :)

Rain

#70 Post by Lochmoy » Wed Oct 31, 2007 8:05 pm

Although showers are predicted there is no way this event will be cancelled. We don't get rain like they do in NSW. and there is the indoor range for shelter but those from Qld. will be winging about the cold so bring your thermals and we'll be wearing shorts. It's goining to be 21. Positively balmy!
I have taken the path less trod and it has made all the difference

Yeah, I'm taking three bows, I know you are meant to shoot mostly one bow for accuracy but I like them all and enjoy the different characteristics of them, although they are all variations of a theme.
Only two more sleeps !

Hi all,

I will not be able to attend this year due to a death in the family.

Last year was fantastic and you will all have a great time. Good shooting and I hope to see you all next time.

Regards,

Grahame,
Mick Smith will be there and he is the closet thing we have to papparazzi! Just don't ask him to stand IN FRONT of the camera, he gets all shy about it!
There will be photos a plenty dont you worry, and if we can manage it some footage too!

Well, I'm back home from the Great Southern Tournament, so I thought I'd post a few photos for those who may be interested.

I didn't take all that many photos, mainly because it was so bloody wet, I didn't want to wreck my camera. Yes, the weather certainly put a dampener on our procedings, but despite it all, I believe we still had a ball.

There were plenty of people taking photos, so I'm sure we will get many more posted later on.

The fantastic venue at Morwell was probably the best place to spend a miserable wet weekend, as the huge indoor stadium allowed us to do a lot of shooting indoors.

Anyway, Timbow and fellow club members worked really hard to make this shoot successful and enjoyable and despite the weather, they were certainly successful. Thanks guys!.

The weather on Saturday wasn't too bad, so we managed to complete the 'castle' clout event and the king's round event with just a slight dampening, but Saturday night turned particularly nasty with constant heavy rain and strong winds. Half the tents ended up blown down by morning and the rain didn't even look like abating. A few foolhardy souls set off to complete the 30 target 3D course and came back looking like drowned rats.

Here's my photos ...
