Evening Trad Archers... just a reminder to all who are attending The Gathering... the Gate situation at our club still applies

ie: the Gate must be Closed & Locked at all times... there is a combination lock on the gate, please call the number that is on the post to get the combination.

Do not at any time leave the gate open when coming & going to & from the club even if you think that someone will be coming behind you unless they are already there. Let that person behind you know that the gate must be closed & Locked at all times.

It's not rocket science... If it's Locked & Closed when you get to the gate, then Lock & Close it behind you.

We look forward to seeing you all.

Morning...

It's a sad day... the Gathering has been called off... it's still raining...on the 10th anniversary of the Pasha Bulka ..

wet wet wet...we will have a range set up for those who are already here and for those who may still attend.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Charity Shoot in October.

It may have been cancelled - still 60 or so people turned up and some even camped. There were travelers from VIC, WA and Northern Qld. From the photos it looks like the club improvised and set up a field "paddock". Well done Hunter Valley for making the best of a rather soggy situation and looking after the archers who were there.
Here is a couple of photos for you borrowed from elsewhere :)

Thank you Little Arrows...

We at HVTA do our best in times like we had at the weekend.. congratulations to all who attended and helped out.

It was a most laid back weekend with no scoring..which got us thinking... Do we do this at all Gatherings & Charity Shoots?.... not to score and just have an enjoyable shoot allowing time to catch up with fellow archers and just have fun without trying to get all the ranges shot & scores in at a set time.

What are your thoughts?

I took this photo on the Monday morning...

That's a good question Trish. We do it all the time at Chevallan and I was considering asking the question for our upcoming weekend mini trad shoot. You also just have to look at response to the Memorial shoot held at Wisemans Ferry last August. There were 95 people and that one is also uncatered.
The participants still understand a fee needs to be charged to cover targets, facility use or camping etc which ever way you wish to word it. I do also appreciate that some folk like to "measure" their own ability again their peers. I'm personally would rather just go for the getting together of friends far and wide, the shooting of many arrows, the banter, and the general social activity.
Perhaps you could have one as a scorer and the other not. Has anyone noticed how much better they shoot when not "having to keep score"?

cheers

I for one long for the day that someone comes up with a trad shoot that has no scoring what so ever. You know like the old days when it was actually a gathering of Traditional archers coming together in friendship and all things bows and arrows. The passing on to the younger generation of all things to do with the Traditional world that we all are apart of. For this is the future of Traditional archery in Australia. We are just a small band of brothers and sisters who join together at these Traditional shoots to spend time with each other and the things we love to do together. It would be a shame to see all the knowledge which flows forthcoming from the Traditional archers world be lost over politics and points which seems to be all to present these days.

Just my 2 cents worth.
