Cool David, we can shoot 'stinking longbows' together! (I hope you are the David with the 'stinking lonbow!') I actually have my own new saying about one of my longbows...'stupid bung bow!' Remind me to introduce it to yours.
Anyhow, I am watching the weather 28 day forecast and it looks OK so far.
My historical targets only just accommodated 55#bow using 11/32" field points so I am redesigning them with extra layers of cardboard. I have opted for Mower boxes which are fantastic. Well, provided you know someone with a whopper guillotine.
Fortunately another member helped me cover two of the 5 targets and I decided to road test them. I am testing with a 15#Elm kids bow with carbon arrows and then our bigger historical bows and hopefully tonight a modern trad. All good.
See you then in 3 1/2 weeks, Silverlady.

Hey Mick, we are catering for historical, traditional and modern traditional.....just no compounds. But I am looking forward to seeing your work of bows and hoping you get a chance to meet the LMS folk for a fun day. See you then, Barb.

I would love to go to this event. It's a very long drive for just a few hours of shooting though. Still, I'm very seriously considering it.

Maybe LMS might consider having a two day event sometime in the future? That would certainly make the long trip worthwhile. Competitors could stay in town somewhere. Likewise, meals would be available at the local pub, etc. I think you would have a bigger turnout if you did.
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Hey Mick, is there a chance you could drive to Melb's and car pool from there forward? Just a thought. It would be good to see you and for you to try out our home since Mossvale days.
If you PM me your address I can send you some brochures from the Information centre that show off our pretty towns that comprise of Sth Gippsland and some places to stay. A two day archery event is great but so is a one dayer that you make into a fun getaway weekend. We have some great wineries, eateries, galleries and local sites to enjoy a spare day if you please.
I do appreciate the 'long drive for only a few hours of archery' but maybe your effort to attend will help us to acknowledge that a 'two dayer' or even to back-to-back the event with another archery group in our region would be a worthwhile idea and cause to offer trad archers. Either way, please remember to RSVP for the event and BBQ as it will be much appreciated if you can attend. From Barb.

 The BBQ low-down....we are good to go and with RSVP's due this weekend I will be putting in the order for bangers n burgers late next week. If there are any Vegetarian's, Coeliac's or Vegan's amongst us please speak to me and you will be catered for at request. My details are on the flyer.
Cheers, Barb.

Funny. Its a damn outrageous ask for a day drive! Sorry, can't and won't even encourage a drive like that in a day. Thanks for thinking of us Nev and it would be great to see you at the shoot but it really is quite a stretch of distance to consider for a one dayer.

The weather is so far set for 26C.
The targets are sorted and despite getting high on texta fumes, I am pretty impressed with how they look and the challenge of them for a 2D target.

6 days to go and the fun begins.

Cheers, Silverlady.

Thanks to Leongatha Medieval Society for their shoot on Sunday.

It was a very enjoyable shoot with some different and unusual targets to the norm. The descriptions of the targets at the shooting pegs made interesting reading Obviously a lot of work went into the designing and the making of those targets.

Thanks Barb Wendy Rob and team.

Many thanks to those that came and I hope you all had an enjoyable day with the histerical group. I personally would like to thank Wendy and Alex Jones for there extra efforts in helping with preparation in the few weeks leading up to the day, especially Wendy whom without her I would not have been able to complete the assembly and sewing of the 2D targets and frames for me to then get handy with artwork.

Also a big thanks to our home ground hosts, the people of Coal Creek Community Museum and Park, Shirley and Geoff for the BBQ cooking from Korumburra Scouts, Marg and Vito Serafino for the BBQ meat drop off, JSL for their letting us have cardboard boxes to make targets, Leongatha Apex for the loan of the BBQ Marquee, Rob for sitting out the event to hold the fort, Dean and myself for making the awards and Morgan Fisher for designing the award cards. Thanks to those that helped set up and pack up and had any involvement in contributing toward the event.

Cheers, Silverlady

Thanks Mick, hoping next year it is a little less histerical and a little more historical. We have learnt a lot about setting up and working to time frames. Tweeking!
We normally have the event in March - May so I will keep you all posted as to what comes of it for 2015. Cheers, Silverlady.
