Grange Bowmen - Huntingdale Shoot 9th-10th August

#1 Post by seliora » Wed Jul 30, 2014 1:53 pm

Hello All,

Coming soon is the Grange Bowmens Huntingdale shoot weekend, this year we are making it bigger and better than ever by making it a weekend long event!

We will be kicking it off with a 3D Special round on the Saturday followed by an amazing Camp Oven Dinner. On the sunday we will have our main event of the Huntingdale Competition.

The Grange Huntingdale is essentially a barebow competition, however sighted shooters are welcome to participate, although won’t be eligible for trophies. Don't let this put you off though it is a ton of fun even for the sighted shooters!

The Huntingdale consists of 3 rounds as follows:
  • 20 target 1 arrow round
    Speed shoot
    Moving target
Nominate by Wednesday 6th August Please

The rules of shoot are attached along with the invitation flyer, If you have any enquiries please contact myself or Bec (diprosebec@gmail.com)

Camping is available for all people wanting to shoot and you can shoot either 1 or both days just let us know.

Cheers!

Hi Jamie,

There is mention of "barebow" - does this include compound bows?

Hi Sue,

Indeed this is correct, to be eligible to win the hunting dale shoot (which is only the sunday) you must shoot barebow, this includes compounds, recurves, longbows, traditional etc. basically any old bow as long as it doesn't have sights. People with sights are more than welcome to come and shoot as it is great fun but unfortunately are unable to place.

Thanks for the clarification Jamie, in a nutshell, it's not Trad.

Hi sue, yes you are correct its not a completely trad event :) however we do get a large trad contingent to shoot it and most years trad shooters win, Apologies for any confusion. In the end its a fun shoot that is run in the style of a trad shoot.

It is good to see your club promoting barebow, that in itself is rare in those choosing to shoot "non Traditional bows" - oh I am sure I can type it just once - compounds; there I did it and nothing broke. Just don't tell anyone

Good on you for getting back to basics.

cheers

It did indeed, the shoot went well, a lot of smiling faces at the end of the day with some interesting shooting positions and a downhill speed round. Hopefully you can attend next years :D or our Dick Coates Memorial Longbow shoot in October. I have attached our wrapup newsletter below.
