with only 20 sleeps to go, a few of us went out to the club today, for a bit of a look see at ideas for the Trad shoot. No targets were out, we were just checking shot placements, and then playing pick-a-spot, which is always fun.

You will need to bring 6 Flu Flus' with points. There will be some there for people to use if they do not have any of their own yet.

As the "motorway" is now finished some gps systems will not have the new exit numbers, so if coming from Brisbane and you take exit 244, follow the Green signs to Imbil, then Brown signs Tourist Route 42 Mary Valley Way (which you also follow to Imbil).

If you take the next exit 253 it heads you toward Kandanga and just hits Barby Road from the other direction.

Barsby Road has a big GOLF course Par 3 sign at the beginning of it. Follow dirt road past the Par 3 course, about 500metres on the right (and just before the left hand bend) is the Gympie Field Archers Gate.

Phone Gary on mobile should you become geographically embarrassed temporarily and one of us will guide you in.

Cannot wait to get up there and check out the place and your new targets! We are both super keen to escape for a few days and shoot some arras. The good news is RIPPER the pup will join us as her vaccs would have all kicked in by then. She is coming along nicely and is a very smart dog and pretty well behaved.

Thanks for the directions!

There was a fire out in the Imbil area yesterday and thanks to Mr ScrubBull who phoned Gary (the president of the club, who was at the Capricorn shoot in Rockhampton) who phoned Tom (who is a club member) who's father is the fire warden at Imbil, the fire brigade was advised and they got out to the area in time to stop the flames getting onto one of the courses, which would have in turn burnt through to the camping grounds and club house.

Also Gary had mowed the clout range last weekend so this formed a fire break and stopped it coming up toward the camping area.

Close call.
On the bright side we should not have any lost arrows on the clout range now.

Archery is a simple game, it's the mind that over complicates it.

Fire probably burnt for a half hour longer than it should chewing on all my bl$%^&y arrows around the clout range! Great though that it was stopped before it got into the range.

Thanks for the article link Mark.

All the camping area, canteen, amenities and the ranges are all soot free. Arrows with black feathers might be hard to find on the clout range now......

Not long now, and don't forget your Flu Flu's with points.

to add to directions: before you get to the Imbil township itself you turn right, toward Gympie (yes there is a sign) and go over the bridge, Barsby Rd is about 4kms on the right............... at the gate to the club there is a blue sign with Crystalbrooke on it follow road round to right......
(things you forgot to mention when giving rough driving directions.....

anyhoo, went out to the club today and finished pegging the 2nd course. So courses and events now set, just need targets in place, and few things tweeked next week and off we go........... and let the fun begin.

and only 6 sleeps to go. wooohooo.

cheers
