#1 Post by little arrows » Wed Dec 12, 2012 7:24 pm

I have checked the organisations calenders and here are the Trad shoots 2013 as at today.
As you can see some dates are still to be confirmed, so I will edit as soon as these are known.
I'm sure there will be flyers with shoot information and directions posted by the individual clubs as they become available. Wisemans Ferry (Traditional Archery Get-together) and Mildura already have individual posts.

Hi Sue,

Lakeside have published their 2013 Calendar and it shows the Jules Shield to be on 13 - 14 July 2013 so you can firm up one more date.

Hey SoulArcher

I know there are a few Trad Archers in Perth, and have met a few of them. Perhaps you should look at your local area first. Then once a shoot is up and running you would be surprised how it grows, and then we can catch a plane over to it later, once established, as 2013 is pretty busy on the east coast.
Good luck, and let us know how you go.

Thanks mate. I will have to look into it. I know a few Mobile archery people so that might be an option. We will see. Just need to find a place to do it in.

Its a bit hard to work in around the ABA and other local shoots, this year we sort of got squeezed out of 2012.

Thats why we got in very early for 2013.

If possible we try for a date in November, I will talk about November 2013 out at bow club tomorrow and we will see if we can fit it in.

Will let you know when I know

Hi Sue,
Its great that you have gone to all the trouble of putting together a trad shoot calendar for all of us. I guess you are our unofficial coordinator.
Sue do you know if at the trad shoot at Wisemans what the equipment / bows / arrows requirements / restrictions are?
Cheers

Hi Ian,

You have just given me an idea - oh yes I know, now I have a headache  - anyhoo.
The flyer for Wisemans is the Traditional Archery Get Together in Traditional Events, which has most of the info - short version - longbow, recurve, horsebow, selfbow, warbow, (basically no wheels) timber arrows - many and varied events. Great shoot to get to.

Where are you in the scheme of this great wide land.

I can also email you a flyer if you like.

cheers
sue

added with edit - as each club puts their flyer on the site, I will link it to the "calender" above

Hi Sue,
Re your post regarding the equipment eligible for theWiseman Ferry Trad shoot. I emailed Robert McKenzie regarding the type of arrows that can be used. His answer was. There is no restriction on arrows, but if you feel you are good enough to be in the top 10, timber arrows are needed.
I am planning on using carbon arrows. Its a long way to come and find that I have the wrong arrows.

Hey Jo, that'd be great, ya goin' to bring Gary with you? It is a great shoot and well worth the trip, I guess you'll be flying, so you never know who might pick you up from the airport.

Yes with Wisemans you are allowed to shoot carbons and aluminiums, however only timber arrows are eligible in the Top 10.

G'day Sue,

I got an email from Jenny from Barambah Bowhunters today and their shoot date has been changed to the 11th & 12th of May. Attached is a PDF for the shoot also. If you wish to start a separate thread on this shoot please do and I can add the PDF file to it.

There are only 50 sleeps to go..... to the North Albert Trad shoot, and the flyer is currently a work in progress. A spokesperson from the club has assured me, the shoot is definately on.

I have altered the Trad calender for Wisemans Shoot reschedule, with new flyer.

It has come to my attention that someone is misinforming people the Gympie Trad Shoot is not on this year.

This is INCORRECT - the shoot will be on Sept 28/29 as noted in above "calender " dates. I have a provisional flyer for anyone would like a copy.

I really have no idea how these rumours start, all I know is they are annoying.
Hopefully, this one may have been stopped early yby someone actually checking with the club themselves.
