Another great shoot over for the year!.More than 100 shooters, good course and lot of fun. Great hospitality and great amenities, showers were absolutely smick! Even saw 2 spikers and three does just inside a property line on the way home. We wheeled around and drove back just to check them out and while our vehicle was moving , not a worry but as soon as we stopped 'zoom!' Closest ones would have been no more than 30 metres from our vehicle. Gave us a good vibe to take home with us.

Like you said Bob it was another awesome shoot. Had heaps of fun, lost / broke about 8 arrows, run out of arrows on the 60 sec hunter round. Completly missed the running pig round with five arrows. Thanks to the Gympie Field Archers again for a top shoot. So let's see all the photo's, I know there out there.

To all the Gympie Field Archers a big Thank You and Well Done. What a fantastic weekend enjoyed by over 100 Traditional Archers.
Good food, Great courses, lots of variety, a slight drizzle of rain Saturday night made for cooler shooting today. Trying to hit the clout was a real challenge, shooting into a headwind on Saturday. 30 sec speed round going into one course of 15 African 3D Targets that none of us had ever seen before. 1 minute Hunt Round at the end of the other 15 3D African targets (and none of them repeated). Rolling discs of various wobbiness made that event interesting. Running boar as part of the course being able to be shot at any time was great too. 36 archers participated in the Porkeye held on Saturday night under floodlight and during the drizzle. Dodging the shadows from the archers picking their arrows out of the bucket in front of the light source on the target made for some interesting shooting too.
Just a brief description of what we all enjoyed, and only 330 odd days to the next Gympie shoot to be held late September 2013. So make a note on your calender for next year.
Photo's will follow in the next few days once the photographer who walked around happy snapping everywhere has sorted through them.

cheers

I have to agree with all the positive here - what a great, fantastic, fun shoot.

Congratulations to the whole team at Gympie Field Archers for a wonderful shoot - great targets and course layout, great food served by friendly ladies in the canteen and great bathroom facilities as well. Just need a few more level camping spots for next year's big crowd.

As always, great to catch up and chat with lots of other trad archers and learn some new stuff too.

We'll definitely be back next year!!

Thanks for the support, It is you guys that make it a great shoot, so many new and old friends, it was great to see so many cubs & juniors 20 in total and some amazing results from them. They are the life blood of the sport so we must incourage them to shoot.
We had 106 shooters, 16 Cubs, 4 Juniors and a heap of happy punters just enjoying themselves and doing what they love.
Photo's & Results will be posted shortly. Thanks again, I know the team really do appreciate the nice words from you all...........
Cheers Gary

He actually beat a world champion for overall score too! He just pipped Russel Carlson who aside from being a terrific shot with recurve and longbow is a top fellow with it!

I meant to mention this earlier. With almost 110 archers, it was great to see so many families and couples at this shoot. There was also 4 families with 3 generations of archers shooting.

Trad archery really is growing, and I am keeping an eye on 3DAAA and ABA sites for proposed/calenders for 2013. I already have a vague idea when all the shoots will be on, just need to have them confirmed, plus there are two other clubs looking at possibly holding Trad shoots in the new future.
So will keep you all informed as info comes to hand.
