Notice the height drop between the two archers. I was beginning to hate this up-down-up-down walking.

Some really great photos there Grahame!!!
They certainly do show what the courses were like; they look excellent. Some interesting looking bows there as well.
Can anyone name some of the Ozbow members there and photo (wf71 etc) that they are in? It would be good to put some faces to names I don't know, thanks.
It looks like it was a great shoot!

Morning All.
Another name,
This is Oliver (I think). That was his first time at archery having received 30 sec's of Coaching under the eagle eye of Friar Girard. Either the Coaching worked or there was lots of natural talent showing through.
(Note he was shooting an Asiatic.)

Grahame,
Frere if you do not mind.....considering my French and Swiss relatives way back. Of course the training of young Oliver was sponsored by McDonald Archery and Top Hat.
Oliver did really wel graduating from nearby bales to a few minutes later to Poppinjay then straight across the road to the moving targets. He also got to watch Nathan, Big Kev D and Guy in action over there too.
The bow Oliver used was a 43# draw and he did it all day with consumate ease....with no conception that what he had mastered was viewed to be difficult by many more experienced archers.
Kevin
never complain....you did not have to wake up....every day is an extra bonus and costs nothing.

Thanks for all the photos. Again, thanks again to Di, Rob and all the rest for putting on a top weekend. I wish there was more than just one of these weekends every year (about 6 would be good, as if). And next time I shall remain relatively sober and make the effort to put a score in - which brings me to a quick question.
Before leaving late on Sunday I went round the field again with Owen. I'm sure he said that the rabbits and cats are all straight 10's. Is this right? I was scoring them as normal 10, 8, 5's. So, what's the score anyone? If the rabbits and cats are all just 10s my score would have been about 440ish instead of a crap 400. Be good to know for next time.
Cheers,
Andy

Good to see that photo of the young fella and Kevin - I think that is the first close I have seen of him. Without the names I wouldn't have had a clue who the photo was of.

Thought I'd just quickly stick up a couple of very poor quality stills from an iPhone video I took on The Challenge course (no other shots of that so far). The fox takes it up the gritter (you can only just see the arrow). Howard very happy. As you can see here, a miss is an instantly lost arrow.
What surprises me, is that Rob had the energy to drag all this stuff up there and build the targets in the first place. Top marks.

A picture may be worth a 1000 words but I feel I should explain little bit about The Challenge Round.
It is very similar to The Snooker Round I shot in America, which consisted of 10 difficult targets, only 1 arrow was allowed in your quiver.
The Challenge Round , not recommended for the beginner
10 targets, 10 to 25 yards
Scoring is 8 or 2 for a body shot
only 3 arrows are allowed in your quiver
you are allowed 3 shots at target 10, providing you still have 3 safe arrows to shoot
this course may seem very intimidating, it is, but you are simulating hunting conditions.
Jim Mason (King) scored 58

Trad Bound wrote:Nice Crisp Photos Darrell. That photo with the 125# warbow isn't that Eoin or for those who attended would know his as Thirty Tree and.........
Thirty Tree and a half ahh an Irish accent. That man is mad I saw his arrows, Harry Potter could not ride them they were so thick. He asked Steve Wallace for a set of arrows, I don't think there is that much timber in Queensland.
So he gave the italian one an outing for a change,
the tillering is so off on that!
I am sure the people that have seen the one that Nick made can tell the difference
Take a look!
