longbow recurve muster - Gladstone

Hello traditional archers, if anyone is interested in coming to Gladstone on Queens birthday weekend for the Longbow and recurve muster, I have attempted to attach a flier. It is in Word format. If it doesn't work or you can't open it, fire us an email - muster2004@dodo.com.au We are sending fliers and registration forms to previous attendees and most shops and clubs in queensland via snail mail. It is an open event and all welcome - just no wheels, carbons or alloys.........lol.
Cheers

Nocky,

welcome to Ozbow! What a great first post, hey? The attachments worked, and it sounds like a great way to spend that particular weekend, with the bow making demos and all. 8)

Thanks,

:)

Thanks mate. It is a good weekend. As much a gathering of the clan as anything and an excuse for fun and frivolity ( aren't they all ). And I'll be watching with interest as Glenn turns a stick into a bow. I was even thinking of making a new set of arrow's to enter in the fletching comp.

I was informed yesterday after I posted the flier that there is an ammendment to the nomination form with a couple of extra columns . Doesn't really matter, just m/f and indicate whether you would like catering . When I get it we can swap them over but if anyone has already printed the first one, just write the other bits on.
Cheers

sounds great, my only problem is deciding weather to go to this shoot, the 3 day shoot at Glenrowan or the 3daaa shoot in casino! all on the same weekend!!!!!

That is one of the problems with the major shoots, it seems. Pity we can't get them spread a bit more :?

i think the problem is we like to spend as much time shootin as possible, the long weekends become popular.

Yes it can be a problem finding suitable weekends. The muster used to be on a 'normal' weekend later in the year but we grabbed the opportunity to move to this one to allow more travelling time. Most people only have to chuck a sickie  ( I mean, take a day's holiday :D ) on the friday or leave early saturday, as most of monday is free to head home....... guess that depends on how far you travel and / or how much time you've got. We are about 540km north of Brisbane for anyone who hasn't been before.

Just a reminder that there is only about 3 weeks to go. If you are coming, could you please pre-nominate to help with planning etc. If you don't want to fill out the form just email details including if you requiring catering to muster2004@dodo.com.au Hope to see you here

Well another muster has been and gone.

To say a great weekend was had by all is an understatement.

From the awesome shooting of Bruce the Kiwi (overall shoot champion), to the "wonderful" singing by the Pacific Bowhunting Safaris shooting team during the kareoke (is that how you spell it), to the top ten shoot out and me busting about a half doz arrows in two days !

It was great to catch up with many mates and friends, TBGA members, supporters and sponsors.

Dan Smith took out the ASAT Perpetual Sheild for the "Best Displayed Hunting Trophy" with his magnificent 5x5 red stag, his wife Laney was a close runner up with her awesome 31 DP boar.

The Gladstone Club deserves a huge congratulations on the running of the event. Everything ran well and smoothly. Top job guys.

If you haven't been to a Longbow and Recurve Muster yet, do yourself a favour, get there next year. There are only two shoots a year that I insist on going to, and this is one of them. You are guaranteed to enjoy yourself immensely!!

See you there next year?

Luke :)

I shot with Luke the Lumberjack on day two of this event and agree wholeheartedly that the senior Gladstone members did a great job.

Thanks for a great shoot Luke and, as you can see, I registered by the time you got home.

Hey Wardie mate, welcome to Ozbow!

Does anyone know if 'Metallica' made it there? He needed a lift...

hmmmm, don't remember registering a mr M.Metallica, but perhaps he was there and registered under a psuedonym...............D

LMAO Dave, Mr Metallica didn't go, something about he couldn't sort his arrows out on time. It's a shame too, he would have had fun. I must mimic the other boys thoughts on the shoot, loved the weekend but next time I will be ready for Bruce  (Bloody Kiwi) . I have to say that Glenns longbows draw as smooth as anything I have ever shot, I had a Billy Bakers and at 70#@28" it draw back to my 28" anchor smoothly and evenly. A real credit to you Glenn beautiful and a real shooter.

Wardie, don't think I had the pleasure to meet you at Gladdy but welcome to the site.

Buford, I second that motion, although the organizers have previously stated their reasons for the clash as being unavoidable. A great pity, really. :?

Ahh, now I know :) . Are any of you fellows from down there coming up to the Mackay shoot?

Posted: Sun Jun 20, 2004 9:23 pm
by Nocky
I think there are a few going to try to get up. You know, last chance at the range and all but I'm not sure how many. There's a few heading off on hunting trips as well in the next weeks as well so it might be a case of juggling finances to do both and shoots usually come second. Anyway, I think I'll probably come with the boys just to check out this range that every raves about before it's gone. I think I saw a flier somewhere but who's the contact, what's the format and when's the nominations close?
Anyway, gotta go. Get back to practising me speed shootin'

Me and my boy Big Kev (Cub) would like to be there. But like Nocky are a bit short of details. There is a flier down here somewhere but if you could post that would be appreciated.
