walk in the padock wth the kids

#1 Post by woodie » Sat Jan 09, 2010 9:43 pm

After talking to one of my workmates about the rain we have had he asked if I would like to go for a walk to try and get a bunny, of cause I said yes.
Asking the kids if they would like to come the youngest was off to get her gear. The son, who was plaing the xbox, was a bit slower but did get around to it.
On getting out to his farm and having a yack we where off down to where the bunnies hide.
We poked our heads over the rise from the gully to see about 10 of the hopers having a chew, righto kids pick 1 and take your time. We all misted, not by much but enough, off for a little walk.
As I came out of the next gully, closly followed by the kids I sore a rabbit at about 20m, I drue the custom grey beard 58# long bow back and reliesed, thud, "what a shot dad you got it in the head" said the young lachlan.
So the first bunny for the long bow and a good walk in the padock with the kids.

Congrats mate!!! It was great that the kids went out for the hunt with you. I'm sure they enjoyed it as much as you.

Thank, yes the kids have a good time even though the oldest, who is nealy 13 and at the stage where mum and dad is not cool to hang around with. Emma my 10 year old was upset as one of our pet bunnies past away gust before xmass but she got over it when I explained that they are not the same.

Fantastic! Congratulations!
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

Well... the rabbit wasn't too tasty, it had NO flavour and it was kinda chewy, but what can you expect from a rabbit that's been frozen for 6 months? But... now, Dad, when I hit the rabbits with MY 64 pound Hungarian Horsebow nothing will be left remaining...(Malevolent laughs)

Ron's son Lachlan and my Jessica seem to have velcro on their hands when they catch up with each other at the Gathering. Poor young thngsthey always get tired and spend a lot of time sitting down. They are really unlucky and seem only able to find one chair.

Yes Lachlan is a good kid and not a bad shot...he would be better if he stood still and took a bit more time setting himself up.

He has been on this website for a while. Jessie shot with Ron's family last couple of years. Daniel and I shot with Ron, Lachlan and Jessie this year. Powerful archery family the Woodhouses. Ron's missus is usually in the final shoot off.

You aint that bad of a shot either kev (better than me anyway). You only hit one tree this year on the broadhead range (from memory).

Sorry Ben, I forgot that you were with us. You are such a quiet person and the rest of us were a bit noisier. Yeah I was waiting for Trish to pop out and take a snapshot. That was the best I ever shot the broadhead range. Ron and Daniel being in the group sort of brought a stronger competitive sense to the shoot....for bragging rights.

You went well and will go better.

Nah, the cat was moved so we could operate. If you look close you could slide it to the left and both arrows wer just next to it. In fact both shafts wer touching the cat.
Both arrows hit a rounded edge and glanced off into the tree. I think it was uphil and about 30 metres so it wasn't that bad. It is the same cat that I hit and glanced off to land in a tree [one of many] last year. I am going to murder that cat next time with a judo point.

That is my version and I am sure that my buddy, best mate Ron would agree,
Geez what gives with you HVTA people that you record every hit tree?

Thanks Ben for reminding me.

I agree Kev the cat/fox what eaver it is jumped to the left. As for Lachlans horse bow it is my bow that he is tring to clame as his.
Kev I have bean telling him for a long time to slow down and aim, he is getting better.
Steve you meet us at the gathering or the oct shoot a few years ago, I think Daniel introduced us.
AS for Lachlan and Jess having velcro on there hands I think Lachlan dose not want to see her get lost up here.
Trust you Ben to rumb in the fact that we got stuck in the tree and not you, good on you cuz.

Ron, if anything the cat jumped right.

Well if their hands are stuck together and one of them gets lost, doesn't that mean both are lost? I fail to see how their plan will work. I suppose it could be worse....they could have used superglue.

Ben is your cuz?

Steve, the Woodhouse family is even bigger than you think.

Ron, just how many people do you stash away in your mobile palace?

Ron, we gotta get the script right, right?
People might think we were stretching reality.....one of us might get accidentally nominated for a pollies job.

Ben, from now on I will carry my camera, now designated "benstumpcam"....you know where this is heading, dibber dobber....and I thought you were quiet.

Mate them trees round there are dangerous and need to be taken out. Hence the reason we always hit 'em. Well that's my story and im sticking to it.
