Re: 3 more sleeps
i worked on a gold mine on the mitchell a few years back. we found a lot of pigs lived in the horizontal mine shafts(caves) left by miners 100-150yrs ago. the pigs took shelter there during the day and came out to feed at night. i found out the hard way they do not appreciate being disturbed...
for multiple reasons i wouldn't be in a hurry to go in after them with a bow though.
-fairly unstable caves,
-full of bats (bat s!@# desease),
-verticle shafts covered in tin and dirt,
-verticle shafts hidden by surface water,
-no where to hide from mr. piggy with an arrow in him,
-snakes eat the bats and take refuge in them,
-gold fever
where about on the mitchell will you be hunting? heaps of cherrapin(large fresh water shimp) in the mitchell. scrub bulls in the ranges north of the mitchell. the normal ugly shorthorn looking type. give the station bulls(no horns)a hard time...and be careful of salties, they come further up the mitchell than some like to think!
i'm jealous, i love that dry scruby country and ranges.
