One-Shot Wonders and Highly-Sporting Warning-Shots...
A couple of weeks ago, Matt Wright snuck in and shot this 75kg boar at 5m range. The 820-grain Goldtip/Ribtek arrow zipped right through, and the pig made 10m only before going down. His bow's a 66", 70lb @ 29" Black Widow PLX "Zebrawood".
Today we headed out real early to a swamp that still has a fair bit of water in it. It had no ferals on it, so we began walking cross-country to another swamp. Along the way, we found a mob of eight pigs rooting around in the damp, soft sand. Off with the boots, a perfect stalk, two warning shots over her back, and finally a double-lung shot (all at 10m) put this sow down after a 60m dash. I was using 704-grain CX350 Heritage arrows and Tusker Delta broadheads. The bow is my 64", 78lb @ 29" Black Widow PLX "Bocote".
Later on, Matt did an amazing bit of stump-shooting with his judo-tipped arrow, hitting this termite mound perfectly with a 45m shot.

It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

Yes, good stuff fellas.
I don't think I could even draw your Black Widows, never mind shoot them as accurately as what you blokes obviously can.
It's good to have an injection of hunting stories and photos on Ozbow. Thanks for that.
Mick

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Thanks, lads!
Sparra - I've only sold one bow, a 67lb @ 29" Black Widow PLV longbow, but that was to Mick Baker, who's done great things with it!

In the midst of these storms, seeing blue sky is a welcomed thing. Seeing you fellas having a grand day of it (and thumpin' pork)... is just a Grin-Maker!

Good shooting, great fun and a good read. Thanks for the photos, I can't walk well so it is good to 'get out there' courtesy of your pics. I've been practising warning shots myself all week, missed even the bloody hay bale, luckily it didn't flinch and I nailed it next shot.
That light Ausat cammo looks badly out of place in the aussie bush to me, is it really as good as it is suggested?
Lucky termites aren't a protected species eh?

Thanks for the reply Ben....Mick Baker is TB...Trophy Bowhunts...I had a few shots of that bow while in the cape last year and as I normally shoot 50-55# trad bows i thought I would have trouble drawing it...To my surprise it was a lot easier than I was expecting and really smooth to drawso I guess the old saying you get what you pay for stands true with Black Widow bows...

There's no adventure in knowing where you are.

Hi Ben, good to see you getting out after the move. I also like to annoy the hell out of termites as well!
