new huntin area

#1 Post by ottis » Fri Nov 23, 2007 8:53 pm

myself and a few mates recently gained permission to chase hogs on a cattle station and its right on our doorstep which is real handy. weve been doing a bit of fencing in exchage for access which is great for us ,weve done half a dozen or so trips this year but the wet has pretty well pulled us up now. theres plenty of hogs on the place but its a big property and over the years its copped a flogging by poachers mainly doggers so in most areas the pigs are very toey and lay real low the lack of fences and the fact that it hasent been utilised as a working station for a long time has pretty much made it open season for poachers but that is all about to change now that it being worked again . its a beautiful place with buffalo roaming everwhere the buff are off limits though at this stage heres a couple photos of the area

WOW, that is some awesome scenery. If one of those buff decided to put the horns to ya, where do you run? Doesn't look like there's trees to climb. The reason I ask is I've had a few rutting bull moose put me up trees. But I always had a tree handy.

Ron

It looks like a top spot. 8)

It's good to hear that you're working in with the landowners. It might go a long way towards helping in landowner/hunter relationships if it was practiced more widely.

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

This IS a good idea! Offer the landowner labour in return for permission to hunt. It gives them a little time to get to know you, and you get to see a bit of the place before you head out. Might just be one way of doing it, certainly worked for you! Good one!
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Looks like a great spot. Looks very similar country to where I have hunted up your way. All the best with your hunting.
