#1 Post by ssga » Sun Aug 06, 2006 3:43 pm

Well it has been a long time in the making and after many many hours of practice and long walks with the stick and string........................

Image

I DID IT :P I am stoked, i'll tell more when i have settled down. I got her at 7am 10yds and she walked another 80-90 yds down hill before collapsing 8)

I had a tear in my eye when i had finally settled and took a swig of celebratery liquid (rum), and then thanked her for her life

I have called all my mates (the doubters) and have since lost my voice!!

The carryout...............

Thanks mick, you were one of the inspiration figures  (which also inc's JindyDiver, mick smith, Jeff and Erron - hope they see this thread 8))

Adam, is it better than good it is "Friggin' unbelievable"

One hell of a challenge, i am proud of my achievement (not boosting), moreso because it was about learnt skill not natural talent, ie right hand shooter left eye dominant. Now if some one askes about sambar with trad gear i can have a little to say.......? I wish every person who takes up the bow can feel how i felt <feel> today :D 8) :P

There wasn't much cover either by the look of that first photo. The country looks pretty open and that would make the stalk even more difficult.

Well done!! :D

Mate that is a super effort congratulations to you and all the hard work you have put into making this dream a reality , I have watched your threads since you made it known that this was your aim , no doubt it was hard to do but most everything in the world that is worth doing is.

The feeling you have today will live with you right to the end.

May there be many more to join it.

Well done.

SSGA,

Congratulations mate, I have a good idea of the amount of effort you`ve gone to . Did you sneak up on her bedding ? or wait on a well used game trail ? I have a good marinade for the Weber mate if you interested? I tried it on Sambar on the weekend ( hound crew ) it melted in your mouth! I cant wait to here the story .. ..I just got back from high country Sambar hunt but was`nt successful , and I`m embarrassed to say that I missed a 15in stag from 12 ft away. I have`nt quite got over it yet, and think I might have to get some counseling....LOL. Seriously though, congratulations again and thanks for the inspiration.

Cheers, Tony

Chris rang me up with his good news that morning, and he still sounded like he was charged up with adrenaline, you can hear it in the voice, or if your there, you can see it, sparkling in the eyes.

I get a real kick out of someone sharing their success with me, good job mate, Sambar arent easy to come by. :D

You should expect the call mate, Bill just sent me back a note telling me he is going to T something up with you :D

It will be easier on you than having to write out your story to post, we can all just listen to the podcast

I listen to Bill's show each week on my Iriver while I do the Walking Schoolbus with the kids.

Guys,

I'll be writing the story for a mag, but late this week i'll pen a few lines about the hunt, is that ok? The mags still have to get buyers right to help support the industry.

Piggy i'll send you a draft when i get the story done if you desperate

Here's a glimpse of the blood trail.......

I didn't need to follow it, I kept slipping on it  (sorry i still haven't settled)
