#1 Post by Charlie Lamb » Fri Aug 01, 2003 11:07 am

Ok guys! I'm very interested in Australian broadheads (cut on contact type). How many different brands are there and are there any clear favorites? Any picture you can trow in would be cool.

Charlie,

there are 4 I can name off the top of my head - Ribtek, Black Stump, Tusker (formerly Davies ) and a somewhat new one (I think ) called Outback Broadheads.

 Ribtek you can see from their web site, which I’ve linked to on the Links page.
 Blackstump are a phone number only concern. I have their number if you’re interested: 02 4961 5278 (that’s after dialling the country code for OZ, 61 I believe). I will see if I can get a scan of their advertisement in Archery Action magazine, which shows some of their broadheads.
 Tusker have a website allied with Bow Hunting Australia, also on our Links page.
 Outback are another phone number only concern. Again, I will see if I can get a scan of their advertisement in Archery Action magazine, which shows one of their broadheads.

Others on Ozbow collect broadheads, and will be more help than me.

Hope this helps, will try to get the scans up soon.

Charlie,

Here's the scans. If anyone else has photos, let's know, yes?

Charlie,

My personal favourite by far is the Ribtek. They're structually strong, easy to sharpen, hold an edge well and are great value for money. I'm sure you have seen them in the States. Jeff

There is also a new coming out of Tasmania, Stainless and very similiar to Bear Razors. As far as I know Blackstump Heads are now out of business, so you may have trouble getting hold of them.

Thanks guys! Very interesting. Eventually I'll own samples of each of the heads listed. I'm an old friend of the U.S. distributer for the Ribtec (Danny Simmons), so I'm familiar with that head. They are hell for stout!!
I've never used them cause I prefer multiple blade heads.

Is the Davies named after a well known Australian bowhunter?
