Gringa Longbow is going fishing
Gearing up for some serious sharks, dug up my old hard core fishing arrows I made years ago. They weigh in at 3200 plus grains and come out very nice from 83# Gringa. Hoping weather is favourable in Shark Bay come mid January. Arrows need a bit of loving, new nocks, wire trace, and sleeves, etc. Have made up a new hand line for bow and tested, after a couple of mod's I'm happy with set-up.

Re: Gringa Longbow is going fishing
Haven't down any bowfishing in a long time. Anything above 4ft is fair game. Hoping for something bigger than 6ft. Usually walking in water and only a couple of meters from them, see how game I get.
Re: Gringa Longbow is going fishing
that sounds like great fun where do you go to get amongst sharks that thick???

That's a serious setup mate and looks like you've done it before - should work well I bet.
Must get pretty exciting with them in water around you.

Re: Gringa Longbow is going fishing
What range you talking with this setup Muz? 5m? The drag system will be interesting.
Re: Gringa Longbow is going fishing
Normally less than 2m. Carry a big handline on belt hook. Strip off 10m or so to handline on bow. Once you've shot you hold bow position until all the line has come off. While this is happening you grab the big handline from waist and then walk back up onto beach and drag him in. The ally sleeve is designed to be sacrificial to prevent fiberglass arrow splintering when shark rolls in the shallows. The most import thing as with any arrow set up if making sure the arrow is coming out dead straight. These i made for my 80lb compound and got lucky with the longbow as they come out awesome. Faster if anything.
Will endeavor to make a short video when up there.

A vid would be great

Not quite the type of drag system you usually find on a fishing reel, but sounds very effective.Muz1970 wrote:..... you grab the big handline from waist and then walk back up onto beach and drag him in.
At 2m with that harpoon I suspect it will be a pretty quick fight. A vid' would be awesome.
