Certainly was a cracka of a stag Carl. The time and effort you put into hunting and your gear has really paid off for you.
Congratulations.

Well done. When you put in the hours like you do, you deserve to bump into a stag like that. Have you scored/measured him yet?
I'm dreaming of/planning my maiden Sambar hunt next winter. I knew they are tough, but a four hour tracking job, that is something else, especially given the shot placement. Has me concerned. Is that the exception or the norm for the mighty Sambar?

Thanks for your comment DunnoNuthin, you are so wright that if you spend enough time in the bush sooner or later you would think you would run into something speaceal.
I know that a 4 and a half hour traking job is not required if the shot was maybe 2 inches higher perhaps.
Here is a score sheet.

That's a ripper of a Stag. A job well done mate. It smokes the ABA Australian Record.

I'm heading over in June for 10 days for a look, I'll be happy if I see a deer let alone a stag. Your bush is nothing like we have in the West and I'm really looking forward to getting out in it.

Truly a once in a lifetime Trophy.

Congrats Muz.

Thanks Muz.
If I was home in June you could call in but thats the best time for me to be up in the NT and Gulf country.

All good Captain. Think i'll be a regular visitor to VIC once I get the bug.

Good luck on the Boars, they are by far my favorite game to hunt.

Cheers Muz

I had a look at the ABA records, not that I'm a fan of record books, but it truely puts into perspective how rare and awesome that stag is. Particularly for a Trad archer. Once again, well done.

Thank you DunnoNuthin I too have looked at the records and spoke the a representative from ABA and I can not have it recognized by the ABA because I wasn't a member at the time that I took the Stag and even if I was to be come a member they will not recognize it because it was taken when I was not a member. Some records for bow hunter!

Well that is disappointing. I can see their side of the argument, but I think the policy is doing a greater disservice to bowhunting in general. Just my opinion, but I'll stick to it. I'm not a ABA member, but then I live in the only state with a ban on bowhunting, so my membership goes to SSAA.
Regardless Captain, you have your memories and the antlers as reminders. I'd be happy.

What a stag! Congrats!

Nice work on that double, too! Wanted to say so on the thread about it, but couldn't, so here will do.
