Stalking a stalker!!!

#1 Post by Jack Spinks » Sat Aug 16, 2014 11:28 am

I've been busting my ass trying to deck a worthy trophy with my New Stalker Coyote FXT, sure I've taken a few goats but nothing exceptional to Bragg about.. Until yesterday where I heart shot this huge tom from 15m as he circled me.. After an intense whistling session I finally noticed the familiar shape slowly stalking it's way into the area of the so called wounded hare.. At 15m he had me pegged, and luckily as he circled past a tree branch which blinded his view I came to full draw and stepped out from behind my tree which caught his attention but the shaft had hit it's mark.. A short 25m sprint and he was done, a huge cat not far from where I last shot a monster cat..

that's a good cat Jack!. Re the red gum in the Stalker did you send the wood over to the US to have it made? also did you take the option of the longbow limbs as well as the static tip?

Yeah I spoke to south cox in bendigo during the expo and we got talking about how I've always wanted a bow made from the wood that surrounds my family farm, we run a firewood business so wood wasn't hard to find, packaged it all up and sent her across along with some burl which makes up the limb veneers.. I like the idea of being able to change to longbow limbs without changing the riser

great stuff Jack. I've just received a takedown from US in a bow swap and it was made from walnut and wild Pecan from the makers farm. It makes it just a little bit more special.

Yeah unfortunately this cat is much smaller than the last big cat I shot in the same area about 8months earlier which I never bothered scoring and lost the skull.. I'm no good at scoring as I'm new to it but had another score this morning and came up with 8 6/16ths so it's being sent away to be measured by an accredited scorer so we know for sure how big he is.

Hazard go for it mate, show them how us trad fellas roll ;) some people mY think I spent countless hours hunting but in all reality I play footy so it takes up a lot of my time and I barely get to hunt for anymore than 5hours at a time, maybe a quick walk Sunday for recovery after footy but other than that, I'm lacking properties and time to really put in the hard yards.. Although tonight I did walk about 12km looking for foxes and didn't see one but that's speed hunting for you when time isn't on your side.. But I believe If you make an effort eventually you'll paint the right picture and come home with the goods.. Thanks for your support as always
