Gascoyne Billies
A few weeks back I went for a quick drive up the road to my old goat spot some 1100km's away with a few mates. It was 11 years since my last visit to this area and since my last bow hunt for that matter. All the way up we had doubts, especially after Exmouth had received 200mm plus of rain just days before. Luckily our spot being some 500km south only got a few mm. We arrived at midnight with no dramas. The next morning we walked wide with the wind on our backs for about 3km, until we reached the spot I hoped would have a few goats. Sure enough we could see a few in the distance, it was as if nothing had changed. Except as we closed the gap there numbers increased, there would have been over 200 goats in this mob with the majority being Billies. The country is very open and extremely rocky and all stalks were difficult to get in close but over the 3 days we hunted we managed to get 8 Billies between us. With 5 being shot with Trad gear. Here's a few short Vids and some photos of my 3 Billies.

Re: Gascoyne Billies
Well done! And thanks for posting them, at least I get to see some one grassing an animal, my chance is practically zero since I never seem to be able to get out hunting these days.

Awesome!!
Congrats mate and what great footage!
I see you alternate from Long bow to Recurve, what did you hunt with the most?
The dark billy had some nice colours, did you keep the skin?

Re: Gascoyne Billies
I rarely shoot with the Checkmate recurve but I was getting over a tendon injury in my RH (stupid speed shooting incident) so I decided to take it as its only 60lbs. Used it the first day and my hand/forearm was all good so I swapped back to the 70lb Longbow. Much prefer my Longbow. Like I said the stalks were difficult and the closest shot was the Longbow Billy at 35m.
We took the legs of all the goats which filled 2 x 40L Engels and we took 2 sets of horns home. Cooked a up a roast in the camp oven up there which was awesome.
Will definitely be dropping back in there on the way up to the NT in August and again on the way back in November. Hopefully there a bit more spread out with smaller mobs.
