American Turkeys on Fraser Is.?

#1 Post by Jim » Sun Dec 15, 2013 9:24 am

Hey guys,

an American hunter told me that way back in the late 80's/early 90's he had hunted feral turkeys on Fraser Is. But he wasn't 100% sure that it was Fraser. He got around a bit

Does anyone know if there is/was turkeys on Fraser? I don't even know if there is anywhere you can legally hunt on Fraser anymore but I'd love to even camera hunt them if they're there.

Cheers,

Jim

I suspect his memory could be playing up. There are turkeys on Flinders Island, in Bass Strait. Fraser Is - Flinders Is, they're a bit similar I suppose. Maybe there are turkeys on Fraser Is too. I don't know.
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Plenty of Scrub Turkeys on Fraser but have never heard of feral turkeys over there. I think Mick might be on the right track with Flinders Island.

I've seen some feral turkeys on Double Island Point driving all over the dunes, and at Moreton Island doing donuts on the beach while drinking. Not so many on Fraser for some reason.

Cheers for the info guys. He's hunted pretty much everywhere under the sun so it doesn't surprise me that he got names mixed up
