Norseman Selfbow Blooded..
Hi Guys,
I thought you may like to have look at the Norseman selfbows first hunt...
As I entered the property late on the first afternoon I was confronted with a few goats feeding and a little mob of pigs heading towards my truck... No shots offered though... The next morning I found myself hunting an area I had only hunted once before, I stumbled across a sow that had not long given birth to her litter... she didn’t want to go, but she knew she had no choice... I left the suckers where they lay, but on return an hour later all but one had been taken by what I can only assume were foxes... Not long after leaving the sow and suckers, I spotted a couple of nice billies feeding on the next range... I managed to get into about 10m of both them with the black and white one presenting a nice broadside shot... So… I let him have one...! The billy went down and the Norseman had it first kill... You RIPPER…! I know it wasn’t a record breaker, but still just as rewarding...
After taking a few photos I headed to the top of the hill and gave Nick Lintern a call to tell him about the hunt...! He was wrapped and was very congratulating.... I love calling the bowyers when there bows get there first kill... I’m sure it must be very rewarding for them too...! I managed to get close to a few more pigs that day, but no shot offered again... these two sows feeding and facing back toward me… just weren’t an option for a shot... but still nice to be up close and personal with them...
Cheers Guy...

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!

Hi Steve, Mate.. As I said to Clinton, I’m loving the bow... When I plugged that billy, I could have smoked the white billy alongside him too...! The bow is that quite its criminal... I could have taken a few shots on game in the 15-20m mark, but I told myself at the start of the trip to only take shots 10m and under... On a few occasions I was caught with game staring at me while I had my bow arm held up in shooting position... on those occasions the bow did start to get a bit heavy.... maybe I’m just a wimp...!longbow steve wrote:Awesome Guy, How did it feel to be out there with a selfbow? cheers guy.
i've just got to make arrows now. no mean feat! i have bamboo to straighten etc. the hard part will be tuning. i'll have to tune each individual arrow. i'll tune with steel field points then make a stone point to match that weight.
good to see someone actually hunt with a selfbow. good work

Yeah mine is very quiet as well . I too have set myself a 10m limit for the selfbow. Yes you are a wimp I reckon I am the same at the moment regarding bow weight . Cheers SteveHi Steve, Mate..
