yum, chevon from the hills
ok, for those that don't have a clue what chevon is, it's the term for goat meat, like beef is to cattle.
went for a hunt on the weekend and managed to bag a couple of goats which are always welcome on my family table. there were some billies chasing nannies which i find happens this time of year, at least where i go. nothing huge but none the less the evaded me yet again. seems every time somethings happens, wind or they just don't present a shot....that's hunting.
anyway i managed to get in front of a mob as they made their way up the hill. this nanny gave me a quartering on shot inside 15m. arrow passed through her and stuck into the dirt behind her.
late that afternoon my hunting partner i spent a little time in the canoe, fishing for cod and yellas. i landed a nice yella. it was very relaxing after a hot day hunting.
early the next morning i walked the river hoping to see some pigs or deer. though i didn't see any it was a worth while walk since we chanced upon this-
we had a record flood here a couple of years ago and all sorts of things have been found along the river, from hay bales to pallets. that day we found a 1000L shuttle half full of a black liquid........either sump oil or molasses i thought. there was a small amount of residue on the ground below and it was confirmed to be molasses.
bait station! i punched a hole in it and we had a gusher. hopefully i can get back there soon to have a look.
after that i headed into the hills again after goats.
some other goats in the mob made their way off the flat to the hillwhere i was waiting in ambush. a young billy came towards me and stopped while pawing the ground, some small branches covering his chest. he then bedded down. less than 5 seconds after he bedded i put him to sleep. another quartering on shot. 930gr's worth of arrow went though him from under 15m once again.

The degree of satisfaction gained from the accomplishment of a goal is directly proportional to the hardships and challenges overcome in order to achieve it.

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!
