Short story on whistled fox
Went for a hunt on the weekend and the pigs were harder to find this time.
I did end up seeing a few but they were not playing the game this time.
I resorted to foxes instead.
On the first gully I tried I was at it for 5 minutes or so and had given up when as I began to walk to the next spot a fox was ttrying to wind me and it ended up seeing movement and scarpered.
The next gully I had better luck.
I was on about the 4th blast session of the whistle when I saw a fox face staring up at me from about 40 metres down the hill.
I gave a couple of short ones and it ran toward me finishing up turning side on at about 4 metres.
The arrow went in through the shoulder and stuck out the opposite back leg.It just had time to bite the arrow in half and that was it.
Later on I shot one with the 17hmr after whistling it out of a log.
I also guided a mate onto his first pig -shot with a rifle.
Saw a heap of deer and shot about 30 rabbits

Good to see mate! When using a Trad bow it's not easy whistling in a fox and getting a shot off before it sees the movement.

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!
