The usual

#1 Post by Jeffro » Tue May 15, 2012 5:35 pm

Gday ,
Went hunting on the weekend

heres the photos

First morning came across a few wallows like this one,
Image
plenty of fresh pig crap and tracks and diggings but no pigs.
That was until I had just had about a 5 minute conversation with Steve on the 2 way about how we'd found bugger all and taken 3 steps towards camp and there was a grunt coming from the grass not 10 metres from me.
With a tree in the way I took about 3 more steps and drilled one into this fella.
Image
He came crashing towards me and I came face to face with him.Thought he was gonna have a go,I had another arrow ready and shot him again from behind the only tree. That sent him into a roll to the bottom of the hill.

Steve got this Billy in the mean time somewhere over the hill

Steve sharpening some heads

Heres one the property owner got us to skin, hitting the ports by this stage

Found this snake skin

Some pigs on the hill
Image
I am 10 metres away with a good wind I left these ones alone
Image

A bit of scenery
Wombat hole under the grass tree
Image

Heres a big sow that I thought was a boar
As you can see the grass is long,it was feeding, its back was arched
Image

More pigs in the grass

Image
There is about 5 in this pic

Steve got this young one with the Black Swan
Image

And then he got this one
Image

not bad

I paced it out....25 metres and dead on for this one

We bought back as much meat as we could carry and had a full esky with pork and gun shot rabbits to load into the freezer last night
It was a great weekend
I might add Steve got awfully close to nailing a really good boar. Its coming mate dont worry about that.
He also saw about 4 good stags and I saw a few does and 1 good stag but they are still proving too elusive.I will get one eventually.
We could hear one making its burping sound and we tried but could not locate it.

Hope you like the photos

Nice pics Jeff. You must have put a lot of thought into the thread name  .
The pig Jeff was skinning we had for dinner and I must say the taste was nice but the chef over cooked it I reckon. What a way to spend a weekend, action packed. Steve

Jeffro,

Nice work mate, Steve and yourself defiantly cleaned up on the pigs... It must be a top property...!

The picture of Steve and the billy looks like some open country... I am sure it would have been a tough stalk.. well done...!

Cheers Guy..

Hey Guy, yeah it was open country but more a case of luck as the Billy was harassing a nanny and she led him right to me and broadside at 10 meters so I wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth as they say. Steve

Thanks Guy,
It is a good place there but to get a good boar out of there is pretty hard.Your lucky if you find one.
Did you end up ordering a huntsman?
