It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

Gradually, some of them wake-up, and one of the more sociable ones comes to inspect the strange creatures staring-in at them...

That's one of those Mike G quivers, the TradGanger from California. And of course, it holds at least three-dozen arrows!

G'day Jeffro, the degree of their purity is a loaded question in the NT. Anywhere else, it doesn't matter. Here, pure dingos cannot be shot, only poisoned with a permit (how's that for daft), but wild dogs (anything less than pure) can be. What they haven't told us is how to tell the difference. Some scientists say that the only pure ones are on Fraser Island, and some say that the NT still has pure ones.

H'lo all. R they protected or does a fella just have to be permitted to kill'm poison em or what have you? I wouldnt mind having a pair to add into my pig hunting dogs. Over here we have a breed called a Blue Lacy that has Coyote bloodlines in them an they make excellent blood tracking and hunting dogs for pigs and deer. I have a female that is half Lacy and half German Plott Hound and she absolutely loves to hunt. I figger those little yelpers probably would make top notch hunters.

I have had a bit to do with dingos over the years and from my perspective you are barking up the wrong tree, dingos are known for their brains and not their balls. As for training them well there are a number of different opinions out there but they are not for the faint hearted :)

Nice pics, I unlike my cattle farming neighbours love to see dingos in the wild. Having had a bit to do with them could never bring myself to shoot one unless it was putting my family in danger.

Jonow I personally would rather have a brainy dog than ballsy. I have had too many ballsy dogs and the brainy ones are the ones that make good hunters. They actually think on what has to be done in the hunt without getting hurt. I've worked with many different breeds and the ones that that make it as hunters are smart and not just braun. I'd love to have a Jack Russell type dog in the brains department along with their tenacity but in the size of a Dogo, Rhodesian Ridgeback or an American bulldog. Just the right blend of brains and braun. Just my opinion though. Why do you think your country's dingo and my country's coyote are so disliked. When they hunt they think and they kill efficiantly.

Ben,

Nice photos mate... :D Pretty cute animals... Shame about the handlers... :lol:

Did you manage to run into an other game that day...?

Cheers Guy... :D
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!

I don't like wild dogs. I oppose them, although I still respect and admire them, mixed interestingly with my dislike.

No, Guy, we didn't see other game that day.
