Solo Saluki...

#1 Post by Guy Layton » Thu Jul 14, 2011 9:10 pm

Hi guys,

I thought a few may like to see a couple of pictures of my three day solo hunt last weekend in the mountains... :D

The main purpose of the trip was to try and grab a late season fallow buck.... but it wasn't to be on this occasion.... :( I managed to see a few nice does while driving into the property and I had a couple spook by those pain in the backside Roos.... :evil:

Here is camp for a couple of nights..... I must admit.... it wasn't that cold....... It was bloody freezing.... :lol:

I managed to see heaps of pig sign on this property, but they seemed to be avoiding me.... :lol:

I managed to flick and arrow into this nice young ginger boar camped under a tree with his mates..... I thought the arrow was a little far back at first, but when he jumped up and showed me his exit wound.... I knew he was a goner...! :D

I passed up heaps of opportunities on young billies, nannies and kids..... but I couldn't help have a shot at this fella... although he isn't the biggest Billy by most standards, the situation just felt right.... The wind was blowing a gale and the thistles were thick... I knew I had to get in close on this one..... I managed to get into about 8 meters and let him have it through both shoulders.... he was down and out within 15 meters...

Although the game I took over this hunt wasn't the biggest and the best by most peoples standards... I still managed to have a top time walking about out in the scrub by myself.... :mrgreen:

Cheers Guy... :D

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!

Guy there was nothing wrong with that trip! you even colour co-ordinated the boar to your bow, as Steve said a 'Ranga" hope he doesn't take offence at knocking him of :wink: Great pickies

Good stuff, Guy, thanks for that. What sort of arras are you using there?

Awesome!
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.
