Mongolian Archery

#1 Post by GrahameA » Fri Jan 07, 2011 7:43 am

Morning All.

If you are interested in Mongolian Archery watch this. It has some great vision of the sport along with some excellent close ups of the equipment. Check the stops on some of the arrows that act as a draw check. Note also how close the judges are to the target - says a lot about faith in the archers ability.

For those with a fast connection watch it full screen.

Interesting to see such different applications to target archery and the very different styles and anchor points, along with the thumb releases.

:) Thanks for that Grahame, I enjoyed that, I did like that big fellow in the gray and the amount of bend he put into his bow. :?: Did I see a straight bow with the Archer crossing the range a little bit before the end.

Yep. If you look at around 5:13 there is a chap with what would be considered a more modern recurve in the background and then there are a couple of more conventional "Longbows" in shot.
