intersting!

I always thought with horsebows you put the arrow on the opposite side of the bow (not on the side of the bowarm) for faster shooting/renocking from horse back.
Either i am misinformed or that last archer doesnt know

Thx Grahame nice to see deep rooted culture prevails in some places.

then married by bowyer, transforms when first drawn"

Pardon the pun but I think it is ‘horses for courses’.

The video footage depicts Mongol archers using static tip bows shooting at stationery targets using a thumb ring.

Perhaps when on horse back they may adopt a different style.

In the following photo of Kassai Lajos it would appear that he is shooting off the bow arm side of the bow.

You will also notice that he is using a split finger release.

Maybe thumb rings were not conducive to rapid fire when engaged in warfare?

Going from hi-tech to primitive the following photo depicts Ishi shooting from the opposite side of the bow.

Makes me wonder was it instinctive or something learnt.
