Bhutanese Archery

#1 Post by GrahameA » Fri Sep 03, 2010 8:37 am

Morning All.

A nice video clip.

Note -
Some archers shoot 3 under and some use a Mediterranean release.
Most use finger stalls or the equivalent thereof.
"To the ear" draw seems to be in use.
They also shoot at a slightly longer distance - 145 metres
Check out the way the bows are made.

Hi Grahame,

All across Sikkim, India and Bhutan archery is hugely popular. Where we have the footy oval/cricket oval in towns and villages they have archery ranges. A friend of mine is Limbuan from East Nepal/Sikkim and they have frequent festivals related to archery. She said the reason towns were encouraged to do this and have ranges was to keep people skilled for times of war.

Cheers

Looking good, nice and easy, little take down bows, 145 is not a bad distance for such a light looking bow.
