Nocking point
What sort of nocking point do you favor and do you nock under or over the nocking point or even between two nocking points and why.I shoot a bow tillered for three under release and nock under a metal crimp on nocking point, but are getting inconsistant release because I think the arrow is pinching against my finger.

Re: Nocking point
I favour shooting between two nocking indicators because I read an article, and I think it was something to do with the arrow manufacturer, Easton, that you can get some unobserved downward travel of your arrow nock prior to release with a single nocking point and therefore slight variation in release point. That might vary a bit with the diameter of the string relative to nock fit, but I remember being impressed by the justification for two nocking indicators at the time. I try to have their distance apart match the nock size.

Re: Nocking point
I use a single nocking point made of dental floss (glued with Loctite 406). I shoot using a Mediterranean release and nock under the nocking point. I find this gives good consistent results for me.

Re: Nocking point
Nocking point of serving material (braided fastflight), nock under the nocking point, and split fingers. On my compound it's braided fastflight, nock over, and three fingers under.
Been tempted to try two nocking points and nock between them, but haven't got around to it.

Re: Nocking point
I use Med release.
I do not use brass clamp on nocks as they cut into the string.
When I tie my nocks they come loose, so I get Steve to tie them and I can hear them "click" in through the serving. The ends are burnt off. Quite tight and even low profile.
On all my bows, all draw weights, the top nock is 3mm above centre line. Many people do not bare shaft set their best position and flights keep hitting the ramp of the bow shelf.
I can make do with one but feel better with two. I make sure my tab surface lies on top of the top nock and drags along it when loosing but the material of my tab along and under the bottom arm of my tab rests under the tab. I also add a leather hard strip on my tab, parallel to my bow in my hand as a locating guide to make sure the combined grip of the string with my deep j hook is the same everytime. I use a Saunders wet weather tab with no extra pieces......very slick in dry and wet and I can wear it all day without being adjusted.

Re: Nocking point
Hi Matt, 2 nocking points for me for the reasons Brumbies states. I use fastflite tied on.
The tie on nocking points when applied correctly can be turned/adjusted up and down the serving like a nut on a thread for tuning etc.

Re: Nocking point
one nocking ring for me. i have looked at two nocking points but for hunting i find it quicker and easier to nock without looking if i only have one. i nock under and slide up until it hits the nocking ring. i shoot three under.

Re: Nocking point
Same as Otis. One nocking point, slide it up, shoot with three under.
I do it this way to save money on the extra nocking point

Steve, just wondered if you could briefly describe this way of tieing on. I now use serving material tied in a surgeons knot, but it lacks that very useful adjustment factor.

Re: Nocking point
Erin talking about tieing the knot or does what you are talking about involve shedding blood-surgeon's knot often involved in the latter . Look forward to the tie along.

Re: Nocking point
Just come in from the backyard having tried putting two nocking points on the string. It has made quite a bit of difference in that the upper nocking point is about six millimetres lower than when I only had one on the string and the spread of my arrow group at twenty meters, shooting eight arrows varied between six and twelve inches which is good for me.

Re: Nocking point
That's really great Steve and thankyou for going to those great lengths to allow all of us to see how these are done. Previously I have used metal indicators on a short term basis because they are easy to move around, but these don't damage strings, they are mobile and they potentially allow for some increase in arrow speed in comparison to metal nocking points.
Matt, looks like the two indicators are looking promising for you re groups.
Alan, I'll catch you at Lithgow if I dont see you before that.

Re: Nocking point
No worries Simon, you just need to make sure you get the nocking point material to bite into the serving on the first knot (as Kevin said and depending on the serving material there is an audible click).
There is another neater way that others use but i have never had one move without being turned so havent pursued it.
It is important to leave 5mm of material for melting and squash it into the nocking point.
When turning for adjustment it does take a bit to get it moving if it is tight but you will get the hang of it. Steve

Could not call that a build along, but it was great.....
perhaps Steve's Nocking Shoppe?
Every customer satisfied.
Great when you tie one on.
Tied up in knots thinking about it.
