Blistered finger

#1 Post by curve » Thu Jul 28, 2016 5:32 pm

I shoot a Martin Mamba 58" 55#@28" and shoot split finger or Mediterranean (call it what you will) and after a shooting session of a few hours I end up with a blister on the tip of my right ring finger whereas all other fingers are fine. So is this "finger pinch" I have heard about, or maybe a form issue or time for a new glove - or all the above - thanks

Hey mate, you said the tip of your ring finger.....If you draw the string with a fairly 'deep hook', the string shouldn't be touching the tip of any fingers.
I don't use a glove, but a bit surprised you could get so much friction on the tip of that finger. Having said that, a few hours of shooting will make even small irritations, not so small!
My guess is either you are letting the string clip that fingertip on release, or it's some issue with the glove that I can't relate to, having always used a tab. Have a look at that tip of your glove - is there evidence of repeated scuffing there? If so, it's probably your release, but if not, I'm guessing it's friction between your fingertip and the inside of your glove.

Keep shooting and all the best,
Darren
