I have heard somewhere that if you change your bows string from Dacron to Fast Flight , you will need to shoot a stiffer spine arrow because of the speed gain.
Has anyone found that to be true. :?: and how much difference did you find it made.

3Rivers advise for fastflight to add + 5# to spine.

Just did some testing with the chronograph.
Using my Cascade Brush Hawk 56" 53# longbow and got ten feet per second faster arrow flight
with a Fast flight string, which is why they call it Fast Flight

It all depends on the number of strands you are using.

Fast flight can use less strands for the same strength of dacron. This will make the string lighter and faster than dacron (taking out initial stretch factor).

If you have the same number of strands of a dacron string and fast flight string, then don't worry about it.

Often for commercial made strings, in the trad sector, the strand count still remains similar to dacron, so that the nock will fit. Custom made fast flight strings can use less strands, but make the centre serving larger by other means.

If you are using a centre shot riser bow, either way, you don't need to worry about it too much. Spine is more critical for outside centre shot bows, typically longbows.

On an outside centreshot bow, I have generally found than a slightly underspined arrow is better than an overspined arrow.

Matt my catalogue is 2 year old but it is on page 67 at the top right of page where it lists spine selection charts.

Thanks for that Bob, I was looking for it on their webpage and while I was at it ,I found they have a page called Dynamic Spine Calculator. You type in your bow make ,poundage, draw length, arrow make and length and weights of bits such as wraps nocks and inserts etc. Hit the calculate button and it works out if the arrow is right for your bow. You can put in the size and type of arrow that you want to shoot and it will help you work out what you need to do to get that length arrow to shoot sweet from your bow.
With Carbons that I shoot, if you add all the info, you can work out the cut length to suit your components. Bloody Fantastic
