Looking to get some 350 carbon express arrows for my 52# bow at 28 with a 29' draw.

Looking to cut at 31 and fletch with 4 x 4'. Does this look alright so far and what point would you run.

58' recurve, I think it's cut close to Centre shooting off the shelf.

look about right with a 125 point.
However you are borderline if you want to go shorter in arrow length.

mate i shoot very similar to you in terms of arrow length draw etc and i find carbons shoot "stiff" off trad bows i have found that out of 50lb i use 500 power flights with 145gr points.

Thanks Ian. I ended up getting some more 350 heritage but got two cut, one at 31.5 and the other 32 to try the three field point weights of 125, 145 and 175. Funnily enough for both lengths the lighter the point the further to the right the nock was. This was at about 10 m, is this too close?

Is that Centre shot or do I need to try some bigger points.

G'day mate, I use 0.340 spine goldtips that bare-shaft straight at 32" with ally insert and 220gn points from 50lb center shot longbow and that's with my 31"draw. 0.400 come out straight with 100gn total in front.

So If there shooting nock right go heavier, either in point or insert, if you find they start to shoot left then you can tune length. Or go for a lighter spine shaft and start again.

Good luck..... Muz

Awesome muzz! I was hoping to go heavier as the total weight was around 550. Some of the 200 heads look awesome. Ha ha.

Hi mate yes the lighter the point the further to the right the nock end of the arrow will be indicating that the spine is to stiff.
increase your point weight or arrow length untill they shoot straight.
i test in paper from 2 metres out to 5 on paper and the at the range asking some one to watch how they fly
My paper tests are usually very good indicators.
Cheers

So moving on from spine. My nock is high when I bareshaft. I have been moving my nocking point higher? Does that sound right? With a bow square (Carter) I have gone higher than the last etched lines. Still seems to be nock high. Could it be a flaw in my form causing it?

Mate you could be too high with your nock point.
Start moving it down gradually; shoot through paper at say 2metres and move out to 5m if you have the room.
I find by using this method i get a spot on setup at home and then go to the range and ask some guys to watch my arrow flight and then if adjustments are needed; usually minor if any i do them there.
This will help you work out nock hight and spine and whether your bow shoots better cock feather in or out.
i bought a bow a while back that was about to be fire wood then as a matter of interest i turned the arrow cock feather in and it shoots perfectly.
But if you can do paper tuning its great as it saves a lot of time and frigging about at the range.
Cheers
Ian
