Hit 'em like Howard Hill, Videos by John Schulz

#1 Post by CraigH » Tue Jun 25, 2013 10:22 am

Hi,

Here are 4 videos of Howard Hill's student John Schulz, showing Hill's method of shooting.

The footage is a bit grainy, but for people who are interested in Schulz and Hill its worth watching.

Video 3 has an interesting bit, (about 2 minutes in) as Schulz talks about Hill knocking the arrow above the nock point and sliding it down the string on the nock.

I guess using a back quiver, withdrawing an arrow the motion is continued on and quicker nocking it?

That is the idea I believe however I nock under as when I'm hunting and have an arrow on the string the weight of the broadhead will cause the arrow nock to slide up the string. I find this very annoying as well as rather hazardous.

Especially when using 190grn Ribbies.
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Plus the weight (around 125 grains) of a field point that has been tapered for the 190's to adapt to when using the Bamboo arra shafts.

Shultz also has a Book of the same Title. I have both the Book and Video Footage. The Book is good because it is a first hand instruction manual of how Hill shot and exposes quite a few misinterpretations of the method that Hill used. The Book, actually more of a Booklet is a short read with plenty of Pics, I highly recommend it.
